Default Has Anyone Ever Seen/Touched a Fake BV?
One of the reasons I love BV is because it seems like it would be really difficult to fake- thin leather strips that are so soft and bendable!
I was wondering if anyone ever saw a fake up close or even touched it. Is it really stiff? Are there "artisans" out there that can convincingly create a BV replica yet? I'm tired of all the LV/Prada fakes and I hope that in person, BV fakes will be very easy to spot.

I have touched a fake...felt thin and cheap.

Please be careful on this thread, it is against the rules to mention the names or post links to replica/fake dealers. They are despicable and shall not be mentioned.

I've touched a fake too - and there was absolutely no doubt that it was a fake. The leather was thin and had an oily feel to it (as did the suede lining). The colour was flat with absolutely no depth or natural variation. The edges of the strips were not crisply cut, and the "leather" was peeling off at the edges in some places. And it smelled really, really bad. Do I need to go on?

I've seen a fake before (or maybe it was supposed to be designer inspired). Everyone I've ever seen, the weave was coming undone. My neice said she saw one yesterday. From a distance it looked like BV, but when she got closer, it looked really cheap.

I owned a fake! Before I knew anything about BV, I saw one in a color I liked and bought it off eBay. The leather strips were thick and all raggedy edges. No sheen to the leather. Crappy thin fabric lining. Now that I've owned some real ones in both Nappa and Cervo, I believe I could tell in real life genuine from fake.

Sadly, the fakers are getting better at some details, but they still aren't using the top quality leathers that BV does.

I just returned from Saks F&F, and ( no ,I did not purchase any more BV!!), but I spotted a women wearing an enormous grayish-silver large woven tote with scrolling and gold hardware... First time I ever saw a fake BV,,(WHY BOTHER???) TOTALLY CHEESY, the counterfeiters are way, way off!!!!

I have never seen a fake BV. I have seen plenty of other designer fakes though. It makes me sick!

There are many fake BVs sold openly in shops in Singapore. They look so awful I didn't even want to touch them!

Before I knew about BV's I bought a bag cause I liked the weave and size of the bag. To find out it was a "look alike" or just a fake BV. The vendor didn't try and pass it off as a BV, just the style of the bag. The leather seems okay - the lining is a thick fabric. I haven't used it since I found out BV's signature is their weave pattern. The bag itself isn't bad if I just want to toss stuff in and don't care if it's damaged. But like I said I don't use it at all anymore. Oh, and there's no weird smell.

I've seen/touched several BV fakes/replicas! 1 of them was made of really thin leather/pleather(??) 2 of them had decent real leather, though the inside lining gave them away, one of them had cloth lining while the other had pseudo-suede lining. The 4th was actually made of calf skin(!!) and the interior was lined with suede as well, all the details matched EXCEPT when you inspect it closer, some of the weaving was not even as in they cut into each other instead of laying out perfectly.
