Default First Veneta
I spent an hour in the shop just choosing the right color for my first veneta....I tried on the tea color, the dark brown and black, the AW09 new red, and the off white....Oh I was so confused and tired.......what should I pick?

I personally would not get a white/light coloured bv- much too high maintenance. I'd pick a colour you can really use and enjoy.

Which colours would go with your wardrobe more? Black is always a classic, and bv browns are really yummy both are really versatile.

However bramble, the new f/w 09 red, is gorgeous and if that one speaks to you, you might want to get that first since the black and ebano are classics which will still be available later on and you can pick them up as your 2nd and 3rd Red is a classic statement colour imho.

HTH! Good luck making your decision. Do post pics when you've got it!

Yes the F/W09 red is very easy to carry and is very classic.

I will make the decision asap!

I have tea (Campana), ebano (intagli Veneta), black (Veneta) and the spring/summer red called crimson - which you may still be able to find at NM on sale, as that's where I got mine (Veneta).

All four colors can all be worn year round so I don't think you can go wrong with any one of them. I haven't seen the F/W red in person but it looks really pretty online and I'm assuming it would be as versatile as crimson.

Good luck deciding!

Hmmm - what other BVs have you been collecting that we don't know about, goldenflower?

jf109 - For my first BV, I chose a neutral color, Ferro, then went right to a bold blue, Oceano. I love the Nero and Ebano colors, too. What types of colors do you wear, clothingwise?

I am sitting here looking at my red BV (carminio new ball) and felt compelled to pipe up with a vote for the bramble. You can ALWAYS go back and get brown or black, but a red BV is a real statement. That being said, everything depends on your wardrobe and what colors you normally wear.

The bottom line is that there is no wrong answer -- they're all gorgeous and classic. Good luck!

My wardrobe is full of black/ Grey/ White/ Brown (beige) and light colors, i am a fan of Jill Sanda. Recently Maison Martin Margiela is my favorite...

I have a small BV collection:-

Ferro Sloane
Iron Fan Clutch
Burnt Orange Montaigne

So now I am struggling with the Off White or the FW red Veneta...

Nothing small about those!

Go with whatever catches your eye. All the colours are so lovely!

I have a light Veneta and hope to receive soon (UPS man had better come today!) a darker Veneta. The light colors are always pretty but the handle shows soil easily and there are areas that show rub marks if you look carefully. So I would go for something medium to darker range. As others have said the Ebano and Nero will always be available. why not consider the Fall colors? I'm not sure which colors come in which size Venetas, but the reddish colors--Bramble and Uluru--are eye-catching; Lilac isn't too light; Elephant might be a possiblity.

Enjoy the decision process and don't rush it. When I picked out my Aurora Veneta, I visited the shop for 3-4 consecutive days and must have spent at least an hour each time comparing colors and trying them on.

boxermom- I just read what you wrote about your thoughts on acquiring and the use of your aurora veneta.. I too, have all dark colored BV bags, black, ebano, moro, and noce being the lightest..but I have recently fell in love with cinnamon, and I am working on trying to get a large veneta.. I know that the handle will darken, and I know I will at some point have shmootz all over it ( my coffee is usually the culprit) ,but I have tried it on in the past and I felt good in it.. I thought it is a great summer shade without being too light and I do not feel it will darken with age.. At some point I feel like I have to enjoy my bag, and just wear it...not every bag can look new in 2-3 years..And it is summer, and I feel on bad days I can always switch it to another bag.. It definitely will not be a workhorse bag. I guess what I am asking you is do you regret spending the $ on a bag that you had to baby, and would you recommend a different purchase in lieu of the cinnamon veneta?

I agree with a previous post. BV browns are yummy. It's like having chocolate without calories! But, I would go for the new red since new colors are only available for a season. If you're not in the market for a red bag, then a brown would be my 2nd choice.

No regrets on the Aurora, which is quite light. So many years I only bought brown or black to be practical, wallets included! As you said perfectly, not all bags will look new in 2-3 yrs of use. So what?! I enjoy it when the weather suits, and I have an older BV tote that works for me in bad weather. If a color calls to me, I seriously think about whether I can accept the drawbacks. In this case, I accept that it shows wear, and I need to be more careful.

I agree with boxermom. If there is a lighter color that you really love you should go for it. You just have to be more careful. I am using my off-white cocker today and it looks perfect in this weather!
Good luck deciding :)

Ooooo, I want to see a pic of that!

I agree, when you buy a bag like that you adjust your clothing and even how you carry the bag to protect it. Just goes with the territory for us bag whores
