Hi!
I' ve been eyeing this bag and I' m thinking about getting it. I haven't seen it IRL yet but I love the idea of a handheld python bag. The question is what do you think? Do you like it? Should I get this or stick with a classic black cabat? I' d love to hear your opinions! TIA! ![]() http://www.bottegaveneta.com/shoponl...44625&page=all |

I think it's gorgeous, but which do you love more? I guess for me, the classic Cabat would be my choice as an HG. But which makes your heart sing???

Gorgeous love it - but I prefer the black cabat
I love and own several handbags in python (all Chloe). Humidity and rain can do a lot of damage to python leather - scales lifting and curling. I live in humid weather I had one handbag ruined, but that didn't stop me from buying more handbags in python ![]() I hope BV python is treated differently, they are both TDF. |

i just got a python clutch and can tell you it feels amazing.... and totally recommend BV for exotics. baggiana would be able to tell you more about care and wear for exotics....
if it were a choice between this and a cabat, i think i would go for the cabat. however, i am a classic bag person.... that being said, this one could be classic. the simplicity does not have the same feeling as an "IT" bag like the balenciaga motorcycle.... and the zipper is very practical |

i have not seen the python bag irl.
i have a medium nero cabat and it is the absolute best. it is light, strong and weather friendly. i think it looks great with everything. i am so biased. i guess what i'm trying to say is that both bags are expensive and i feel you can't go wrong with the cabat in nero. i don't have the experience to say that about the python. |

I think this bag is gorgeous, but I would aslo go with the cabat, more a timeless bag IMO.

Thank you for your opinions so far!
I too am a classic bag person. I want to buy bags that have the potential to be held for many years to come. But in this case I'm torn. I think that a black python bag has the potential to become classic. A vintage beautiful piece. The python leather can contribute to this. Am I wrong? I really don't know. On the other hand the cabat is classic on its own. But is black suitable for a cabat? The python will be available only this season the cabat will always be around. |

Can you try both bags in person? I think you would know the answer right than and there. It is quite possible that you would have to have both and it will only be a question of which bag to buy first. Personally, I would go with Cabat. This bag looks too wide and shallow in the picture.

I do love it, Kassandra.!!! I only have one python BV - the python duette... the hide feels very moisturized - if that is the correct word... For such a very large bag, it wears like fabric - amazing!!! It reminds me of the early Carlos Falchi skins with regard to suppleness and softness and will do no damage to your delicate clothing - only better! I would expect the skin of this bag, judging my duette, to be just as amazing. I do not know if pitone cerato means waxed python which is what the duette is. If you are serious about this bag, please see it in person first... then you can make a much better decision.
Yesterday, I decided to wear a Nancy Gonzalez python tote, and it more scratchy when I rubbed across the scales and on my silk blouse than I remembered... I was surprised, because the bag never struck me like that until I compared it to the python duette. I am spoiled now... The other day I looked at a Zagliani python bag (where the skin is injected with silicone to make it softer), and my duette is softer, more supple and much more beautiful than the skin in this bag by far!!! BV did something to the very large scales in the hide of this bag to make them just so soft and supple! (I realize that I keep using the same words, but it is true and I know of no better descriptors.) It is the amazing feel of the BV leather to which we so respond, and the python in my bag is no exception! With python, the scales are larger and much more flexible than many other snakeskins, and do lift especially when the bag is rouched, pleated or even moves - it is the nature of the beast, and I do not find it ugly as long as the color of the underside of the scales is not vastly different than the top side. A glued down python scale with little movement is not as beautiful to me as one which has movement. I have a couple of python bags that are nearly 30 years old and they still look fabulous - in fact my very favorite python clutch is an early Falchi in a bow tie design that still garners stares and lots of attention. I don't know if you should get this instead of the cabat. You and I seem to have very similar taste... maybe a smidge edgy interpretation to the classic. My suggestion is try them both and you will know which one - or both - will steal your heart. Happy shopping! |

I like this bag. As mentioned by Baggiana, it's edgy with a twist to the classic. I don't think this bag will ever be outdated even if BV will no longer produce this design in future. I say yes, Kassandra.

when you purchase BV you are purchasing timeless elegance
Mr Maier does not believe in "IT" bags his bags are made to be in style today and 20 years from now it is not the bag that makes the woman but the woman that makes the bag Mr Maier believes that every woman brings her own personality to every bag and that is what makes it special I think either the cabat or the python would be a classic choice |
