Default dh impresses at dinner...
Dh was at a dinner function tonight and had to walk past an old friend on his way to the restroom who had her cabat hanging behind her chair. He whispered to her as he passed her "That's a lovely BV cabat you've got there". He could see her eyes widen and her jaw drop as he made his way to the restroom. When he got back she was still stunned that he recognised her bag and could even name it. I guess after having paid so much for a bag, it's nice when someone recognises it for what it is, and a guy at that! Another friend who was seated beside her had no clue what it was. We had such a good laugh that he was so well educated by me after buying me 6 BVs in as many months. I told him I'll now have to educate him about the history of BV and the colours - the staples, at least

Oh my, 88keys, you must be so proud!!

I feel secretly excited when I see someone with BV out there, and get the urge to whisper that person the same line. It's almost like sharing a little secret.

Isn't that such a great feeling to see people carrying their BVs? I always get excited too. It's like Mid- said: a little secret, a secret society of BV lovers!

Thanks, ladies:) Yes, Mid- and Kassandra, I do get excited when I spot BVs and feel the urge to say something but people here are a little reserved and I once got excited when I saw an acquaintance with the guy's version of my watch cos its not a common piece and asked him if it was the same watch and he looked at me funny so now I'm a little wary.

alisonanna, there are so many fakes around in Singapore, but we can always tell, can't we

LLANeedle, I told him I'm not through with the training yet:) He'll now have to read the BV forum articles on BV's history and Tomas Maier's genius, esp since that friend of his has asked him to get together for lunch soon:) She's got another BV - wonder what it is and if he'll be able to name it haha!

shopaholic&baby, you'll have to step up with the training

doloresmia, yes, he's definitely open to more bags, it's just me feeling terribly guilty cos I've never been half so crazy about bags till I discovered BV. I've actually gone for a few years without any new bags! He's joked that he should have a warehouse of BVs so he can whip one out to redeem himself everytime he upsets me - what a great idea ya?? As for a man bag, he's not really into stuff except watches and cars, and his friends gave him a BV laptop bag this year for his birthday but he's just not using it preferring to tote about some freebie PVC bag!! It just might end up as mine if he's not careful

I hope you told him what a great friend he has for giving him a BV PC bag! Wow! we need to see pix of those.... how funny about the warehouse of "I am so sorry darling" BVs. the size of the sorry bag or accessorie depends on the size of the transgression, right? there should be a lot of those out there. hehehe.

Wow.. that sure feels nice.. like you said, after spending so much on a bag, someone actually was able to name the bag correctly :)

When I brot out my New Ball with my friends, one of them went "Oh, so that's ur new bag?! Is it a Ferragamo?" And I was like "Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo". Otherwise, they'll ask "Botte-what?" ARGH!

I've had it worse... my son called by BVs .... "the Ketupat" bags !!!

(For the benefit of our non Singaporeans/Malaysians TPF'ers - 'Ketupat' is a malay cake where rice is steamed in a woven square, yes, woven just like BV, see pic:

Yes I agree.. my frens will say it looks like ketupat!

Even my DH said tt initially. But I can tell progressively he also thinks that carrying a BV emits class that no other brands (maybe except a Hermes) can.

Now that DS is born, I wouldn't have the chance to use my New Ball. Once my confinement is over (which is like this sat), I'm sure to bring my bag bag out for some shopping!

PS: For the benefit of non-chinese, confinement is a period of 1 month from baby's birth whereby we are to eat special food (mainly laden with ginger & sesame oil), stay at home (yup.. u are grounded!), bath with certain herbs etc.

juzluvpink, congratulations on your bundle of joy don't worry saturday is just a couple days away!!

my dh is worse, he knows BV but somehow mixes up all the names. when i point out the cabat to him, telling him that it is the quintessential BV bag, he says -- but it looks like a wet market bag!
