Default Delighted to reveal... but what color IS it?
Thank you to everyone who helped me pick out which BV bag would be most wearable (see this thread.) After realizing that a Large Veneta would be my best choice, I had to struggle over which color to select, and finally, how to get my hands on one for a nicely reduced price. TPF to the rescue, all the way! I'll spare you the details, but it was a lovely TPF'er who offered the name and cellphone # of her SA at a Neiman's, and the rest is history.

The package came today...

What is peeking out of the sleeper?

Large Red Veneta!

Here's a pic of her super soft, grey lining:

And a close-up of her weave, with flash, looking somewhat more tomato-y than IRL:

But, the big question is, WHAT COLOR IS IT, REALLY? When I spoke to the SA at NM, I was looking to purchase a Crimson Large Veneta. The sale threads all referred to Crimson as a current color, and I had seen pics here on tpf that showed a bright, summery red color. Lots of internet sources call Crimson a real "lipstick red," as did the SA herself (although she was talking about a bag she had found at a store in a different city.) The bag I received looks more like a brick-red, almost tomato-y, but not quite as tomato-y as the pics I took. The card enclosed calls the color "RED - SIENNA." I've searched and searched the BV Forum and can't seem to find any reference to Sienna at all!

I had about 2 seconds of surprise at the color, since it was not quite what I was expecting. But, that was quickly overtaken by my absolute delight! This is going to be a much more wearable color for me, something I can take from summer into fall and year-round. Since I live in Western NY, where we definitely have four distinct seasons, this is a huge plus! Also, I tend not to wear much red in my wardrobe, so a slightly darker shade is probably far more workable for me. My closet is almost entirely black, white, and beige, with touches here and there of pink and green.

Finally, the only other BV I have ever seen IRL is my White Grommet Hobo. The color of the leather on that one is very uniform. The color on this red bag has more variations. I tried to show it in the close-up pic, but I'm not sure how well it shows. They are very subtle, but if you really look, you can see that some of the strips of leather are just the slightest bit lighter or darker than others. Some may find this to be a fault -- I quite disagree! It was the beauty of the woven leather that attracted me to BV in the first place, and these almost imperceptible color variations add to that wavy, intertwined effect. And, btw, the two bags are EXACTLY the same size!

Not sure when I'll take her out for her first ride. No modeling pics right away. They'll come. (Maybe... )!

Can you tell us the colour code on the white tag sewn into the seam of the inside pocket (the last four numbers). That should tell us what colour it is...

Oh, and it is gorgeous - and I absolutely love those slight colour variations you describe in my own BVs!

6303. Am I looking at the right number? That's from the top line of numbers. The last line is 3609 B. Thanks!

Congrats it looks yummy! I did a search and found an old thread of noddanard's crimson veneta reveal and it had the same color code so I think/hope you got a winner!

Congrats! Yes that code is Crimson. I have a cosmetic case and I wouldn't call it a lipstick red. Lipstick red is a little brighter and clearer to me. Crimson is a bit deeper and I like to say a tiny bit browned out as opposed to a clear red. Maybe that's why it looks a bit brick to you. It would be good year round anywhere and especially with your wardrobe colors. Enjoy!

Gorgeous color! What an amazing purchase!!! This red is much more interesting than just a plain lipstick red - you are right, it is way more wearable and it will look amazing in the summer against white shirt and in fall and winter against a black sweater or coat.... yummm!!!!! Please post modeling pix!!!

Congratulations! I'm so glad you were able to find one on sale. What a lucky break!

My crimson Veneta and wallet and cosmetic bag all have the variations in color you described. I love those variations, myself!

Sometimes I look at Crimson and I do think of lipstick red. I think it's just the beauty of Crimson? Under bright light, it's tomato red. Indoors, it can vary from lipstick red to a brickich red as Bichon Lover described.
