^^ Lol I doubt she pays anything at all. I used to work for corporate at a large luxury company and our employee discount was 70% off retail. The editors at major magazines would get free bags delivered to them regularly. It's definitely the life!

Would this also be the case for Bottega Veneta? Since I remember reading in a Tomas Maier interview about how they don't court celebs by giving them bags and huge discounts etc?

I agree with sammy that it's a common practice for luxury brands to give out bags for placements, but does BV practice this too?

fashion editors don't fall into the celeb category IMO - those are 'business' gifts, kwim? free advertising if you will, and I'd say all brands practice that. celebs for me are actors etc.

nice bag! OT: i am all for thin but those two are just too much to look at... sorry.

^^ Lara is right - fashion editors don't fall into the typical "celebrity" category. Gifts for them are a business thing and necessary for brands to get their names out there and in the fashion magazines. Around Christmas time at my old company we would see limos pull out with huuuuge shopping bags off to be delivered to Conde Nast, Hearst, and the like.

I wonder do they get them free outright or at a steep discount? With the costs/"lower key" advertising strategy I'd think BV would probably give them free(strategically) to the top editors or editor-in-chiefs(i.e. Anna Wintour, Glenda Bailey) who can actually influence the content of a magazine, and at a discount to the more "junior" editors.

I think BV would probably work the same way as my old company, which is that top editors and fashion editors would always get gifts for outright free (they would just have to ask for it, ie the Devil Wears Prada), but if junior editors ever wanted anything, I'm sure they could get it for free as well be it from the style closet where they kept all the goods that the had photographed, or by asking the right people. All the girls at my old company have tons of bags that they got because they were samples used at the trunk shows or bags that weren't sold by the boutique at the end of the season.

The media industry in Singapore isn't quite like that how it is in the Devil Wears Prada yet. Top editors do get freebies every now and then, but it hasn't got to the stage wherein they ask and they get for free - thank goodness!

But samples sales or family sales are common here

Looks as if we have another case of "I schlepp my BV all over the world". At least Anna dello Russo is treating hers way better than Katie and Denise are. And to be honest, I wouldn`t be leaving THAT bag unused either!

And yet again a beautiful BV croc bag in action. This time it´s L´Wren Scott (aka Mick Jagger`s current gf) and her beautiful OP Soft Croc Fumé Doctor`s Bag!
