In the past B.V never really appealed to me, but recently I have been growing incresingly intrigued with these handbags!
I still need to try on some bags as I am concerned that they may look too slouchy for me (I am used to a more structured handbag: i.e.- leather tods, prada), and have some other criteria as well, but first I was wondering if the boutiques have sales at the end of the season before the next season arrives or do these bags go straight to the outlets? Thanks!! |

Hi and welcome to BV!
The boutiques do have sales at the end of the season, usually at 30% off but the classic styles, like the cabat, and colours (nero, ebano, moro etc) never/rarely go on sale. I was just like you when I first started noticing BV. I loved bags with more structure and got the roma thinking it'd be the only BV I'd be getting. Couldn't have been more wrong *lol* Have fun choosing your first BV! :) |

Thank you for the nice welcome!
The Roma looks verrry nice :) You have grown to love the slouchier looks?? So, if I am looking for my first classic/woven BV, I should not anticipate buying on sale? The sale bags are non-woven leathers? Do the more classic styles go on sale at the department stores? |

Hi jillhillary and Welcome! I have recently fallen in love with Bottega after years of looking in their boutiques and not really "getting it" lol. I too like structured bags (I am an Hermes collector), but I do love some of BV's less structured "slouchier" bags. I frequent the outlets quite a bit, and I have found that often the starting price at the outlet is the sale price from the Bottega boutique. Once the outlet starts discounting from that price though, you can pick up some fantastic bargains

Welcome to BV, you are about to be bitten!
TODS & Lambertson Trues were my 1st loves, sturctured bags, I have moved into BV, starting with the Sloane. The Sloane has bit of structure at first and then it starts to slouch - DIVINE! I have received compliments from Men! I got a Bella Tote, structured again, and has maintained most of it's structure, highly recommend this style, but it is open top with magnetic closure. I have a Pyramid, structure with a zippered closure. The Campana, rounded structure... I also have the Cervo Hobo, no structure but my fav BV by far! It is just so easy to wear and comfy on the shoulder. Perfect 'everyday' bag. When I want to get dressed up, Sloane or Pyramid or a clutch of coarse. It took me a while and trial & error to get here but it was a fun trip, lol! The Classic styles do go on sale in seasonal colors 30% at the boutique, up to 50% or more at Dept Stores. Cruise collection also goes on sale 30% at the boutique and higher in dept stores. Stock varies from dept store to dept store and sometimes the boutiques do not buy a certain bag. I got my Crimson Med Campana at BG, the boutiques did not carry this bag in the US. If you have a NM or Saks near you, go in and try the bags on. Put your stuff in the bag and try it on filled, but not stuffed with paper. All try them on with a heavy sweater or coat to make sure there is enough drop in the shoulder if you like a shoulder bag. Good luck!! |

Hi! Welcome to the Bottega Veneta subforum. You are fortunate to live near stores with all the best brands. My son lives in McLean, so I love to stop at Tyson's Galleria where Neiman Marcus has a small BV department and the fairly new BV store.
The sales will have a mix of woven bags and other styles, but usually none of the classic colors, Nero, Ebano, Moro, Bianco. Cabats are never on sale. You will find seasonal colors in some of the classic styles, though. I'm often surprised at the styles that are discounted--styles that I would've paid full price for and you can get a big discount on them. We rarely know ahead of time, but it's part of the fun. I too love Tod's and have a couple bags, and a few pairs of their shoes. You will certainly enjoy and appreciate the quality of BV. |

As the other have said "welcome to BV!"
I really can't add any information to what the others have said, other than if you are ever out at Mazza Gallerie check Neiman Marcus' BV department. I was able to get a few beautiful bags at 60% off at Last Call. You just have to time your visit for the sales. |

Weocome to BV! If you like a bit of structure, you might consider the Montaigne as well - it has IMHO the perfect combo of structure and BV softness... and it holds a LOT more than its size would seem to suggest at first!

Wow, so many great responses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you all for the wonderful welcome...now I MUST get a BV :) I have been looking through all of the subforums, but just didn't seem to find the answers I was looking for so thanks all for your patience! I am from NYC and often went to Woodbury Commons, but unfortunately did not have the BV bug then. I am in D.C for the next (ugggg!) 2 1/2 yrs and then back to NYC. So, for now I am metro distance to Mazza Gallerie and can get to the BV store in Tysons as well. 1.) I would like a zip top, shoulder strap, medium size bag (not too heavy/large. just a regular day bag) with as much structure as possible for a BV. Neutral color (one of the browns probably). Based on this criteria same suggestions? Different? 2.) Any shot of finding anything like this on sale? In NY I was in the fashion industry and would have used this new bag alot. Now with a job in a different industry in DC, I would use it a lot less often, probably just on weekends so spending less than retail would be great. But, if it is not likely to happen better to just start saving I guess.... Thanks again, what a wonderful group! |

^^^ ITA!
The pyramid sounds exactly like what you are looking for- shoulder strap, zip top and slightly more structured than the Veneta. I find myself reaching for my moro pyramid *alot*. It's the perfect everyday bag imho. Plus, dark truffle is absolutely TDF and since it's a seasonal colour you might be able to get it on end-of-season sale which should be coming up around end of the year.

Hi Jillhillary, I to have been bitten for a couple of months now and have been scratching to get one. Thanks for posting this and for everyones responses, I've been curious when a B.V. outlet will begin a sale. I was either going to call or email them and ask them about theirs sells and if they would mind emailing me some pics. ^^I love the Truffle color and the ferro and elephant and really need to try some on. I have a Gucci cognac small/medium (not the large) leather horsebit hobo and the shape and size seems similar to the pyramid, but that Gucci bag is a pain to get in/out of. Is the pyramid pretty easy to get in/out of? jilhilary please post a pic when you get one I'd love to see what cha get :)
