i'm glad you're keeping her for a while. i think you do love the bag. it may not be a bag that works with everything but when you wear it it will just make the outfit. it's truly a rare work of art.

It is an incredible looking bag, ReRe!... but you must be happy with it, and at that price able to wear it more than ocassionally. It is a statement bag and not a neutral... but you already have many neutral bags. I also feel that it works better for 3, rather than 4 seasons... and even into the fall, due to the tea coloration. I am glad that you will be taking your time to make your decision. Personally, I do not like making decisions quickly... I make too many mistakes that way.

The availablity of the rame veneta is good news! If you even think that you may want it, take it from BG and take your time to decide on that one too. The bling is modulated IMO - less bling than the avantura due to the depth of color, and difference in reflectivity... and this bag can be worn year round. To date, I have not heard of any complaints regarding peeling on this bag, but since there are now many owners, it will get a good test! So many bags... so little time!!!

Hi ReRe,
Honestly, that bag isn't for everybody, and it's not my cup of tea because of the style and colors. I think I could fall for that style, because we all know some bags just has to be tried on in order to tell. However, the multicolor looks really trendy and will probably become dated very shortly. Sorry, if I'm being too honest here.
My vote goes to the copper rame veneta! And if you change your mind on the copper, there's always the elephant armatura that I'm head over heels in love with!! hehe..=)There are just so many options/color choices/styles with BV~ Good luck deciding!

Wow! You've all been busy So I gotta jump in here with everybody else. First, any of those pics you took have your stuff in it? I would like to see that. When I first saw this in the catalog it didn't grab my attention all that much but one day I was in Saks and saw it and was like whoa . It was beautiful but beyond my price point at the time. I didn't however take the stuffing out and put my things in it for I probably would have been doomed. I thought the colors were quite rich and neutral and although I personally wouldn't put it with gray it would look fantastic with blacks and browns and navy. Maybe a dark charcoal grey. I don't think I would wear it with prints but there's always the exception. I think it's one of those bags that the longer you have it the more you find to go with it. I am really diggin' this looking at the pics. Got my heart beating just a little bit harder but I like the unusual even though I have so many Veneta's. That is one reason I was drawn to the Matita Belly when it first came out, because it was different than the other styles. Jumped on it right away. I feel that the uniqueness of the crocheted bag makes it more long term rather than trendy because it is like a little piece of art. God this is long.

I recently was in this same position with a limited edition Chanel bag. Didn't love the pics and then had it sent to me to check it out expecting to love or hate it and would you believe when I got it I was smack dab on top of the fence. Most people didn't have a lot of good things to say about it when I quizzed them on the Chanel forum but after looking at that bag on display in my house for a week or 10 days I finally had to bite the bullet and wear it out. I couldn't stand it any more and it really grew on me. I did the can't wear it with anything but white unless I put a colored cami under a white top (because of color transfer) and I finally decided the uniqueness of the bag was what made it unreturnable for me. No sale price either :( First time out I had 10 compliments on the bag in an hour. People I didn't even think were at an angle to see the bag were giving me hand signals for "love that bag". Now I don't buy a bag for others but I think we'll all agree that appreciation is always appreciated. I felt like because it was different it would last me forever.

So live with it and put your stuff in it (we want a pic of that) and see how you feel after a week or 2. Also get the Copper Rame and see if you totally love it more when it comes or maybe you NEED to keep both.

Sorry, this is the longest post I've ever done. Sometimes it's worth working a little harder with a bag if it snags your heart. On the other hand it is a lot to spend if you don't end up using it. Here's a pic of my unusual Chanel that had a lot of Chanel tpf'ers changing their minds once they saw the pics. Think I need to pull her out

Rere... i dont want to be the party pooper... but i think it is a LOT of money for this bag which you may get tired off relatively soon... i'd rather get a classic in a new colour and save up a bit...
Keep us posted!

When I think of something that is outdated, it is something that is way out of sync with current styles. Like shoulder pads! It is usually something that you saw a lot of , everyone had a version of it, and then it went away. I don't see this bag like that.

I usually don't think outdated when I see a unique handbag. It is the unique ones that a few years later you still have people coming up to you wondering where you got the bag. So imho, I think it is nice to have some bags that are outside of the mainstream. It may be that you end up not loving it enough to keep it, but I wouldn't worry at all that it will be outdated!

^^ITA! this bag is too unique to be dated - stylewise and colorwise. after all, when does yellow, orange and brown ever go out of style? the combo isn't like fluourescent colors that were crazy huge in the 1980s and again recently, but i only remember the 80s, and would look horribly dated if you tried them now.

i assume too that the poufy circular shape would soften over time, much like the venetas do and then become more unstructured like the mahina.

I saw this bag on someone before and it was beautiful with its unique shape. An eye-catching piece. To be honest, I rarely find any BV bags unlike other brands becoming outdated in a few years.

I truly value all your opinions, don't worry about being too honest. Bichonlover I loved your long answer and your chanel. Actually I did load my items in the bag, I believe its the one where the bag is hanging on the chair looking down on the zipper top. I don't remember much difference in the sag with the items in. I'll go back and check my pictures I had one with the bag unzipped and you could see all the items inside. Your experience with the chanel sounds the same.

Good luck deciding. Keep us informed of your ups and downs (if any) along the way to decision making . I only wish I had the dough to snatch it up should you decide not to keep it, but alas I don't. I'm brokesville.

I have tried on the same style in nappa and deerskin combination. I like the style and how it slouches when carried. With the crochet it is more stiff , IMHO. This is a very special and unique bag that you either like it or not. Good luck deciding :)

Not a problem and do put some of those in the reference library. I'd like to grab the leather close up for the color-by-season thread...

Congratulations. I adore that bag, and although the colors don't work for me, I am ecstatic that you are lucky to have found that bag. Enjoy!

ReRe - I cannot stop looking at your pictures. I just love how the bag "puddles" here:
