Goldenflower, it's an amazing color, isn't it?? I understand what you are saying about using it, considering your lifestyle. My life is always casual, which is why I can't justify a Knot!

I'd just replied to baggiana (and baggiana, you didn't put me on the defensive at all, and I hope I didn't sound defensive - I was just trying to explain). I was thinking, "The reflect Cabat is kind of like a Knot. I love their style and admire them tremendously, but I know I'll never own one. I just don't dress up enough." Even so, I really did want to keep the reflect Cabat because it's so beautiful (and I know I would have used it more than a Knot) but for nearly $6K, I want to be able to wear it more than just occasionally. I hope I don't offend anyone with my comments regarding my casual lifestyle and what works for me (and what doesn't). I'm not judging what anyone else does or wears. My lifestyle and I have evolved, both out of desire and out of necessity. I wouldn't leave the house in sloppy clothing and I hope I do look somewhat pulled together, but I'm a much more casual person these days than I used to be. As I was dusting the dining room the other day, I realized that if I were to build our house over I wouldn't even have a formal dining room, and I wouldn't choose again some of the furniture and decorative items I have in there, because they're just too formal/dressy for my current lifestyle. So probably in my former days, I would have had no hesitation about the reflect Cabat, because I did dress up more. |

the three are- medium nero nappa, medium ottone and large grigio vachette. i have been using the nero almost non stop since i got it in february. it is light, strong, so beautiful and totally under the radar. the grigio although beautiful is very heavy. i love the ottone and am so happy i got it but don't use it as often as i should. i tend to use it in the fall not sure why. i have some hermes bags but no birkins. i have gotten some bags that haven't worked out for me as well as i would have liked so i am continually refining my criteria. i think the reflect is really beautiful but i know i would not use it enough and honestly i bought the nero cabat and am expecting part of a special order soon so i'm done for this year. hth and please let me know if you want any other info. |

Since I have so many bags and so many colors, and no cabats yet I was trying to decide if any were on my radar. The reflet looked wonderful in pics to me, but since I just bought the copper ostrich belly, I was truly wondering whether I was just duplicating. The response by nearly every person who has seen it IRL has been something to the effect that it is beautiful, but not for me. The idea of the reflet being dressier really threw me because I cannot detect that in the pictures... even when comparing it to other cabats - especially pictures of peltro, tea rame, or the exotic hide cabats. I am also expecting an SO in Oct, so this may not even be something that I want to consider this year. I am still working on refining my wants... The cabat is an expensive bag, so one would not want to get it unless you were going to use it often, and really loved it. I guess that "the see/try it, and wait rule" really applies here! |

I share that with you, goldenflower... I am casual - with a twist. Do wear jeans - even at my age...Always wear flats (some very casual, some very elegant), or maybe a slight heel when really dressed, love my jewelry and wear it rather than let it sit in the box... even wear my fur in the winter when going to dinner or a party... and love my beautiful BV's which really bridge the gaps for me. I do not think of myself as casual or formal.... it is just my twist on style. A knot would not work for me, because it does not hold enough... kroquet's little rame ossidato ball bag would probably work better, but here I use exotic clutches that are slightly larger, and do not worry about causual/formal again just my odd twist on style. If I do get a cabat, I want it to be one that I would want to wear all the time with everything. I do not know which one that would be - lol!... but it would probably be only one. A great puzzle! Thanks for all the great pics and explanations! |

This is just my 2 cents, and I haven't seen the Reflet IRL, but if I love a bag, I will find a way to wear it. And that would probably be with jeans and a nice top or jacket, but it works for me. But I am crazy and don't mind being a bit flashy.

What great insight I have gotten here with all the Cabat talk. Thanks ladies, you are all a wealth of info and knowledge and great taste! For my lifestyle, a Cabat in tea or copper would be perfection. Maybe one day, if I could stop spending and start saving, one would be mine.
Baggiana, I love that ossidato bag! It's perfect because of the size and I need to be able to put my glasses in it and the knot would be too small. |

So, I saw the reflet today, and, um, how can I put this..., well, it's not for me either...
Mind you, I just got my p-e-r-f-e-c-t ebano mini cabat and we are still in our honeymoon phase, and the way I feel about my mini is my standard now. Also, my heart has been a bit heavy since my son left for his first away camp, so it's not easy at all to make me excited at this moment. The reflet is absolutely beautiful. Just imagining how they created this colour is mesmerising, it's got the metalic feel but yet neutral and warm, it catches whatever the colours around it, it's a fascinating colour. On the shelf it showed lilac hue because there were many lilac bags around it, on the counter it picked up white and somewhat green from the fluorescent light (and possibly my dress which were white and green), when we went outside it immidiately caught blue from the beautiful sky today. I think it goes with most colours because of that reflectiveness. I'd wear it with a white t-shirt and jeans, which I think will look so cool. I didn't see it as dressy necessarily. It will reflect your style, if you think it works, it will, I think. To me, there is just too much going on in that colour. To me it was unsettling because of the chameleon-ness, which can be so much fun and exciting for others, but not for me. I need a grounding colour that settles me, which is why the classic ebano is perfect for me, I think. You've got to see this colour in person, definitely. |

They had pyramid in truffle and I could not take my eyes off of it.
I thought the truffle would be a slight variation of ebano, but oh my it is gorgeous! The purple undertone it's got is so scrumptious. Putting ebano and truffle next to each other is like putting ottone and parma chevre side by side, if you see what I mean. I've got to get something small in that colour. They had quite a lot of lilac and elephant today, both are sweet and lovely. The SA said that they are still waiting for more shipment and that grape will come mainly in exotics. I need to go back there soon. Oh, and the printed catalogue will be coming in on 15th July, so the mailing out will be after that.

I love the knot, but it is too small for me... regardless of design. I will just admire it on you and others!... and you carry it so well!!! And, unfortunately, for me, the stretch knot is still too small!

ladies, i went to BV in SCP today and they had a new style veneta called the mosaic in uluru. it was matte in appearance and rather marvelous. instead of woven pieces, the mosaic is little squares, like a mosaic, sewn on top of a base bag. the effect is very interesting almost pointalist. might be a little rough on delicate clothing like the tournabuoni. it is a LE bag and the medium is $2600, the large $3300 (i think). The US BV boutiques bought this bag in mineral (very happy to hear a traditional bag come in that color) and uluru.
they also had some lovely traditional venetas in elephant and a gorgeous bramble sloane. if you like Rouge H, you will like bramble. yum! |

Mid, thank you so much for the report! Your description of the color of reflet and possible uses was just perfect... developing the nuance, and contrasting it with the solidity of ebano. I am a complex person, and as an artist I love many layers... this sounds like a color of many layers! I hope to see it IRL! Truffle also sounds very lovely!!!
