Default BV factory pictures
I don't know if the pictures included in this eBay listing (interesting bag too...) have been posted here before - I certainly don't recall seeing them... love how they use regular black clips to hold the top of the cabat!

this is eye opening. i thought BVs were made by little green elves. i remember doing this in camp when i was 8 or 9. of course, my basket weaves were a bit more artisanal so to speak. this inspires me to try to make one of these cabats at home - since i am a SAHW right now.

Wow, I wonder how the seller got those pics, I thought they were strictly confidential! Look at all those raw skins, beautiful!

Great picture. As we pull out our credit card, we need to remember materials and labor.

thanks BookerMoose! i was always curious of how they accomplished the intrecciatio. I use to think that a large piece of leather was cut with slots for strips and then individual strips were weaved in rather than being just strips woven together (but maybe this is the case only for the cabat?)

Regular bags, such as the veneta, are made as intrecciato, which is the method you described. Bags such as the cabat is made entirely of stripes woven together, which is more labor intensive and requires more skill and experience.

I find everything about Bottega Veneta fascinating. The process has been described to me by a store manager who went to the workshop and by one of BV's execs in NYC, but to see some actual photos takes it to another level.

If there was a tour to Italy that included a trip to the BV workshop, I'd sign up in a nanosecond.

Smooches, Booker, for finding this and posting the link!
