Default BV expert, is this quality problem? I've just used by Veneta for only once!!!
Dear all, the bag is used only once, and when I'm back home, found that the edges of the strap of nappa are rolled up. just like the photos below. Are your BV bags all like this???

And I found the every strap is very thin and is not trimed. It means that it will roll up very easily...

Waiting for your help!!!

Wow, can you provide more pictures? I have four intrecciato BV bags and a wallet that I use daily, and haven't had any problem with the leather rolling. You might want to show it to whomever you bought it from?

Good luck!

I don't know if this is normal. I didn't see this in my montaigne, which I've had for 2 years. My Sloane is starting to roll up at the edges as per your photo, but I've carried it pretty often for the last 1.5 years.

The strips of Nappa are thin. As I understand, they use a slicing tool to make a very sharp cut. The edges aren't trimmed further and don't need to be. They should lay flat and not curl up, esp. on a new bag.

I've examined my bags, including the oldest, and I don't see any curling. If there is more than a tiny area, I would call or visit BV. Did you buy it from a BV store?

I am starting to see the same thing on my french purse (1 year old, used everyday), though it's limited to a tiny area (2 strips). I brought it to a BV store (I live in Asia) and they gave me 2 options: send it to Paris & wait 6 months or they can refer a reputed local cobbler to fix it. I haven't decided... Maybe there are better options offered by the stores in the US?

I have checked my other bags though and they are both fine.

I'm in Asia,too.
I just wonder if it's bad luck that I brought a defect one home or all are the same...

I agree with you that the service offered in Asia maybe is not as good as that in US or in Europe.

No, it is not a Veneta defect. A lot of the folks on this forum can attest to the quality of the bag & leather. As mentioned, I do not see the issue with my other BV bags.

I am puzzled on what's causing this too. One theory I had was the weather in this part of the world. Then again, if that was the case my other BV items should be showing the same signs... but they're not (thank goodness!)

The edges of my new campana look like that. Nicole, from the shop in AC, said in time they will flatten out. Some of the edges on my venetas also look like that but I think it's the nature of the woven leather strips rather than a defect.

I also think that this is the nature of the napa woven leather strips.

I use my BVs everyday, and the ones that get used the most have this. Some a lot, some less. I'm not gentle on the ones that get a lot of wear...but I feel that bag's are meant to be used and I take it as a sign that they are well-loved. The leather may roll a little, but it becomes soooo soft.

Especially wallets .. have a rough life, bouncing around inside my bag, getting pulled out several times a day, dropped back in, riding in there with keys, cosmetic bag, little notebook. Honestly, I expect my wallet to look "experienced" after a while and it doesn't bother me.

I would bring it back to the BV store, show it to them and perhaps they have another one that they would exchange for the one you got. Unfortunately this does happen to BV bags as you can read from the other PF's. So try that and see what happens..good luck
