Ladies, new BVer with a question. Now that the 2009/10 cruise is online (amazing), what is the normal distribution of these pieces to the dept stores (Saks, Bergdorf, etc). I'm eyeing the python wallet but if this piece and others will be available in dept stores, and with Thanksgiving and Christmas sales coming up...are there bargains to be had for cruise items in the dept stores or are the BV boutiques/BV online the best place to buy these items? Thanks in advance!

Thanks Bags4Fun! Btw, since I'm new here and just learning (also new to BV)....is Bryan from Hawaii the source for hard-to-find BV items? I just learned today that he has some metallics that are only available in Hawaii...but Bryan is mentioned so often that I just wanted to understand the connection. Thanks!

Bryan is a really great SA that many of us buy bags from. Some items/colors are only available in the Asian market and Hawaii. So for those items, we have to call Hawaii anyway. Bryan is very helpful, and Debbie at the same store is also very good. I just spoke to her regarding a bag.
There are lots of great SA's, they are all nice, and if you live near a BV you can certainly get to know the SA's at your store. Some of us live out in the boonies, so we rely on phone purchasing. :)
I hope this helps you!

Baccarat - There are some SAs that are very generous with their time, and Bryan is one of them. Nicole in Atlantic City is another, and Kevin in Chicago a third. Mari in SF is great. There are many other great ones, too. Bryan, being in the Hawaiian location is much more connected to the Asian market. He is also a member here. He doesn't post much, and we have to be careful we don't make him look like he is promoting things for sale.

So we all have our favorites, and you'll find overall the SAs are good and appreciate the interest you have in their brand.

Off to see the catalog now!

So the one bag on the US list of Cruise that is Pourpre and Nappa Umbria I'm told is the new Pyramid. I have a Sloan and assume I'd like the Pyramid with the main difference being the zipper and metal rings, correct???

BL, the New Pyramid is somewhat smaller overall compared to the Sloane, both in length and width. Also, because there is less leather overall (not as long in the body and a zipper seam instead of overlapping flaps), the New Pyramid does not drape in the same way--it does drape, but differently--and it doesn't feel as pillowy as the Sloane does because of its slightly more streamlined shape. I've tried them on side by side, and they're both nice bags.

^^^^^^^^^^^

Thanks, so maybe the new one feels a little more like the Ball under the arm which would be a good thing for me. The Sloane although I like it feels much bulkier under the arm and that's probably why I always gravitate to the Veneta.

BL, I have a sloane and pyramid and yes, the pyramid is more comfortable as a shoulder bag and much easier to get into....for me at least. You will definitely like it! I'm loving the pourpre too....maybe in a veneta?

Is it just the pix or do some of the ferro pix, e.g.--the sloane appear shinier and not the ferro color we are accustomed to?

I think it is the picture - it looks like it was taken with flash or something.

for some reason these colors are not photographing well anenome looks blue but is in fact a vibrant purple
fever is a tomato red
and pourpre is a darker red more like eclipse
I think the new pyramid is easier to get into than the sloane
the zipper makes the opening wider
I happen to love the classic pyramid but it is only available in nero and ebano

they did a veneta in mattita
mattita in nappa is not shiny
ferro is a little shiny because it is nappa umbria
ferro means steel in Italian
