Default Boyfriend's Choice?
Ok, I need some help here. It's my b-day and this morning UPS delivered a gorgeous Campana bag in Ebana, a gift from my BF. It's my first BV bag and I have to say I really wanted the Veneta as it is more classic and, well, this is my first true luxury bag.
I asked him if he minded if I exchanged it and he said no. But, there is the underlying
issue of a gift is a gift. Would you? Thanks for your thoughts!

At that price honey, I'm certain your bf wants you to have the one that will make you the happiest and he will see you wearing the most.

Happy Birthday lucky girl!!

Hi jcole, welcome to tPF and the BV sub-forum!

As a campana and ebano lover, I'm dying to say keep the campana!! LOL, however, I think your wonderful BF would be much happier if his DGF carries the purse that she so loves rather than the one with kind of an obligated feeling which he has no intention to adhere. So go get the veneta and have a super happy birthday!!

Congratulations on your first BV. Your BF is definitely a keeper!!

He has exquisite taste. Several of us have the Ebano Campana LOL. If you think he'll be ok with what would almost be an even exchange, go for the Veneta.

If possible, keep this and ask him for a veneta for any other upcoming event

you know your boyfriend best, if you think he honestly won't mind, I don't see harm in exchanging it for something you'll love more.

happy birthday, and welcome :)

Welcome jcole, and congrats on the campana and wonderful BF! It seems practical to exchange for the bag you truly desire, but I completely understand the gift guilt. So how did BF know to buy you the Campana? If he picked it out entirely on his own I would lean towards keeping it because of the thought he put into it and the memories that will give you. But if you steered him towards it in any way then he should be more understanding that you changed your mind while he still gets the 'gift credit'.

On the other hand, I like foxie-pooh's thinking!!

Happy Birthday, and congratulations on such an awesome pressie from the bf!

I know my bf would prefer that I exchange something that he got me for something that I would prefer. Especially in this case, wherein the gift is quite expensive!

As Mundo pointed out, you know your bf best, and you think he honestly wouldn't mind, I say make the switch

Since your BF does not seem to mind - switch to one you want. It's still a gift from him, so the sentiment is not lost.

Happy Birthday! I have to say that the campana is my fave BV style even though I have more venetas. But if the veneta is more your style, I'm sure that your BF won't mind you exchanging the bag so go for it, BV's are too expensive to warrant keeping what you consider to be second best.

get the bag you love the most. When I give a gift I never mind if the person exchanges it. I want them to be happy.
The campama is great but did not work well for me. As much as I loved the look I found I didn't use it much.
