Baggiana & boxermom - saw the BV item which viv4v is asking at a Japan website.
Here’s the link for reference.

Thanks, Beck77. I was about to post that link as well. Mine is the same as that except the colour code is not 6135 but is 6200 which the seller said represents tabasco red.

I'm trying to get a camera with macro function as my current one doesn't have it. Everything about the pouch is as shown in the link you posted. My fear that it is not authentic is because the font on the chain link is slightly off from the normal BV font.

The seller has very good ratings and have sold similar BV items before without complaints. Hopefully, mine is authentic as well. Will post my pics as soon as I get a camera that has macro function. In the meantime, would appreciate if other tpf members can help to verify as well. Thanks.

Authentic. Just so you know, the authenticity tag numbers indicate that the wallet is a little older... it may be unused, but is not a recent issue. Still, it looks great!

when i saw it i was just itching to hit the BIN, then i went to sleep and woke up. hopefully someone from tPF will ask for pix and buy it and then post action shots for us! it is such a great deal if authentic.
I am almost sure of the authenticity of this one, but get all the other info, and boxermom or someone else will help pin this down. I am leaving for Switzerland, and will be out of touch for about a week. The reason that I feel that this looks good is that everything that I can see from the non-stock photos, and from what I know of duettes, this looks right. You seldom see a knock-off of an exotic skin on a high end bag, because it would cost too much to imitate using the snake- or lizard-skins and IMO, embossed leather looks nothing like the real thing!... I have never seen a Nancy Gonzalez counterfeit - doesn't mean that it isn't done, but seldom. If you ever do have questions about a python, ask for a very close-up of the python scales, and you can see an irregular texture (almost like the lines and wrinkles of your palm) that is very hard to imitate. Then walk over to NM or a similar store that carries a wide variety of exotic skins, and go "shopping" to familiarize yourself.

Still, in my book, the standard requirements of authenticity tags, fonts, hardware (zipper pulls, and the back of the zipper, snaps, latches, etc.), and views of any special markings, such as limited editions plates are mandatory to be certain for BV, and before I will give it a thumbs up. Wish that I could bid on this one ... maybe the next.

Without a picture of the markings, I am at a loss to say anything, especially since I am not familar with this item. If I remember correctly, the number was handwritten. What does that mean???!!! I have never seen that.

6200 is called Pompeii, and is a red-orange to my eye. The picture of the font will help!

beck77: Just to throw it out there - this is legit... 6135 is an actual color code for AMARONE, part of the Men's collection from SS06.

Here's the tag which is what I meant by handwritten model number. There's no label or stamping inside the pouch.

Also, a pic of the hardware that I managed to photograph.

I do not like the font on the metal - it is sans serif, not serif, as currently used by BV. This type of font was used quite a while ago in the 90's and then the sewn, in tags were the brown, arrow type. The attached tag does not look right to me, either; almost as if they took the card that usually comes in an envelope, wrote the number that should have been on a lable sewn into the seam, punched a hole in this, and attached it with string. The whole thing looks fabricated/bogus to me. By the way, if I had seen the font, I would have reported it to eBay as a counterfeit. Please read the caveats above. I am not a professional authenticator, etc.

We need the help of boxermom, bv.luxury, and Bookermoose to weigh in on whether I am correct or off-base. First, have them take a look at this, even if you have to PM them to draw their attention. I am leaving for a while, and you may need help in filing a SNAD with eBay, and paypal. Many here have gone through this process and can tell you what to do.

If the others agree with me, then I would first contact the seller, and tell him that this item is not authentic (for the followiing reasons, i.e., incorrect font on metal, no impressed nameprint, no authenticity tag), and you want to return the item for a full refund (including shipping, since this is a counterfeit?)... see what he says. He advertises this as authentic, money back guarantee. Good feedback on eBay does not come with warrantees that it is accurate, authentic, and that the buyers were knowledgable. If worse comes to worse, and you were smart enough to use your cc, call your credit card company, tell them that you were sent a counterfeit, and arrange for a chargeback. They are very sympathetic with their cardholders when it comes to counterfeits. Best of luck - and contact the others on this list first.

^^^I agree with every point you made, Baggiana. The font, the look of the tag, etc. concern me. It does not appear to be authentic to my eyes.

I guess now the natural question would be, how much should I bid for this vintage bag?
