ok... this is where I turn to when I have a BV 'situation'-
I am orderng some BV SLG as gifts (those are soo easy to pick when it's not for myself! and when it is- choices are always endless!!!) But saw some photos of the grape karung toile knot clutch- http://www.bottegaveneta.com/shoponl...1-54d4e5135293 very tempted to add the knot clutch to the order... RIGHT NOW! ![]() I should be saving up for my Roma, but SERIOUSLY can't get this clutch out of my mind. this one will never go on sale right? but not so exclusive? maybe i should wait and see if there is a chance for a tPF SO knot? I do not have a knot clutch yet but have a BV python envelope clutch... honestly, not sure how often I will get to use the knot clutch... Somehow, I have the feeling I will end up getting both the Roma and the knot but will those be on sale later this year? should I wait? ahh.. see! this is the convo I have been having in my mind all day! ![]() Ladies, please help! |

I've been told that the knots never go on sale at the BV boutiques.
I'm biting my tongue to keep from giving more advice! |

oh oh... this is not going too well so far!! haha
Thing is, I have always thought I would get the knot in croc but find this one a real beauty too! Anyone seen this clutch IRL? I am definitely getting the Roma, some time soon... if not in dark truffle or the Gladiol then will probably SO something. That is, if I do not get the knot clutch... Yes, I have a thing for purple bags... |

The Knot is beautiful, lets just get that out of the way now, lol!
Ok, here are the factors/questions to weigh... 1. The knot is more than 1/2 the price of a Roma 2. How bad do you want a Roma? 3. How often will you use the Knot? 4. The Knot does not hold much at all 5. We asked for a stretch Knot for the SO, which is bigger. 6. No word on the Stretch Knot for at least several days or more 7. How often will you use a Roma? 8. Knots usually do not go on sale, although the dual compartment Knot did the past summer. 9. There is no guarantee anything will be on sale. 10. Classic colors rarely go on sale at BV. 11. Would it bother you to have a Knot sit in your closet/china cabinet 90% of the time? 12. How often do you use your envelope clutch and why? |

So, I think you will find your answer when you decide what kind of bag do you need. Do you need a bag that could be an everyday bag? Then the roma is a good fit. Or do you need something that is more of a special occasion bag? I think the knot works better for that. |

ok. I have the exactly same grape knot ! I got it from BlueFly a few weeks ago [just in time for a dinner party
]. BlueFly's price is usually 20 % off retail. I guess I was destined to get a BV knot this year; I didn't check on BlueFly as frequent as last year but that day I just had a feeling .... lolI LOVE this grape knot. Yes, it was sitting in my closet most of the time but I was happy/smile whenever I think about it. Sometimes I think I love knot more than a cabat [not that I have a cabat yet] !! As a BV lover, I have to have a knot and a cabat sooner or later when time/mind is right !!!

If the roma you have in mind is in the classic colour, get the grape knot first. You may be able to contemplate on it a bit more, but once it's gone, it's gone, and you will have a serious case of non-buyer's remorse.
Ethel, how am I doing in the enabling dept.? |

Thanks for all the good advices!! (and the enabling!) Reading down the list, and thinking I have came to a conclusion of makingg the more sensible choice - Roma. Until... read what mid wrote- "serious case of non-buyer's remorse...." ARGH! haha think I am going ahead to order the SLG and sleep on the decision of the knot...

i have a hermes jige and it sits in my closet 99% of the time. but the 1% of the time i use it is worth every penny i paid. i always feel so put together and confident when i carry that bag. i don't even know if anyone else knows what it is.

Would finding out the relative availability of each in your region help your decision? Both the Roma and Knot are great choices, but if your particular color choice is in short supply, perhaps that one would take priority.
Seeing the item in person usually pushes me in one direction or another. Sometimes I'll see photos of a bag that I think I'd love, but I don't end up liking it as much in person and can walk away from the purchase with a clear head. Sometimes it's the other way around. Can you see the grape Knot before deciding? In my case, I did end up choosing a satin Knot over a more practical-seeming clutch, because the Knot just appealed to me more at the time and I had to have it. It's true that it would stay in my closet 99% of the time, but the few times I'll use it, I'll really enjoy it I've had it since May, and I've used it twice so far. I'm sure I'll use it for years and years down the road. I don't regret the purchase one bit. EDITED TO ADD: I was able to see a bunch of satin Knots in person before making my decision, so I was confident that it would work for me.

e_n_i_a_l_e, I am a purple lady too, and I completely understand your dilemma. That is the knot that I would choose too. I would probably go for the knot now, and hope that the Roma goes on sale. If it doesn't, you could still get it then.
I'm torn between Gladiol and Dark Truffle right now. I just can't decide if I like the Roma or not.

From the roma queen who loves clutches, buy the roma. I buy clutches because they are so cute and appealing, but they stay in their bags and never get used. I used my Romas all the time.
