Hmmm.... the upgrade rule... Not everyone wants or even likes reptile leather - let alone afford it. What I liked about the idea of an SO was that it was not formulaic. Now it seems more like a formula... pick style, pick exotic hide, pic color (only a few choices), pic lining....

How much more creative to actually see a bag in black patent, as BL did. That one is sticking in my mind as stunning - and worthy of being specially requested!!! Sometimes a bag just looks so darn good in nappa! I love to SO - but I am not loving the very narrow choices!

Bryan just told me he got official word from BV HQ, ottone can no longer be SO'ed. I am heart broken.

Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I just had him submit a couple of SO possibilities in ottone a couple of days ago--I guess it's not meant to be. I hope you still find your ottone baby when the time is right!

Oh no, sorry to hear that D!!! You would have thought they would have given a warning before. There really should be a main list of metallic leathers / Exotics that you can SO, its not like there are 1,000s to collate!!

Hi, does anyone know what is actually available for SO at the moment- leather type and colours? I am thinking of a Karung Roma, is that even going to be possible? Is goat skin consider an upgrade? Any updates/imput would be appreciated, thank you!

I think a karung Roma would meet the new SO policy since it's obviously an upgrade. Not sure about chevre.

thank you my friend. i wish i could see myself with the large on ebay now, but i would be overwhelmed by the bag. an SO was not meant to be for me.

I can't understand eliminating Ottone, one of the most popular leathers/colors ever. It seems they only want exotics, as Baggiana said. Not all of us love croc/karung/pitone. Such a shame. For the surcharge they assess, they should make pretty much anything. Really not liking the trend for SO's.

I think for ottone, they may have run out of materials? That was always a condition of the SO -- that the material be available -- unless I'm remembering it wrong.

I have heard conflicting information on the SO "policy" from other SAs, which makes me wonder if the policy has been widely discussed within BV.

I'm with you, though, in not liking the new "upgrade" policy. I'd love something SO'd in pourpre, but that would never be an upgrade.
