mystilleto asked about this one too. i think we need cabat owners like Uclaboi, bv.luxury and Porschegirl to weigh in. Perhaps you could ping them. As you know there have been a number of questions about cabats on ebay in recent threads and they are one of the most replicated BVs. this one looks good to me, but i know nothing about cabats.

Hi gtvicky
Thank you so much for the info, the payment issue probably is ok with US buyer, but I am worry abt the authentication of the bag which is hard to tell b/c of limited pics.
for the second one, I just found out someone won the bag, which is weird because the auction is ended eariler than it should be, I thought the seller can't end the auction unless there is no bid...anyway.
I guess I have to start searching again

It was a mess because she kept on changing her mind whether she would ship to the Philippines or not. Before I placed my bid, I asked her if she would ship to my country and she agreed. But when she saw in my payment details, that my address was unconfirmed, she changed her mind and she refunded me. I told her that Paypal can't verify addresses outside of the US, that I had great feedbacks and I bought items in the US more expensive than her item and that I would ship by USPS Global Express Guaranteed. She agreed and so I paid the second time. Then she refunded me again because she consulted her husband and he didn't agree. She wanted me to pay by Western Union and I didn't agree. The points here are: it was in her description before that she would ship worlwide, her payment option included Paypal and she didn't state that she would ship to confirmed addresses only. It's only in her current listing that she put that seh would ship to confirmed addresses only. I just dropped everything from there without complaining to Ebay. I don't want to deal with sellers like her. But I think for US buyers she might be ok to deal with.

For the second seller, I think there is an explanation on page 9 of this thread why the seller has low % of feedback. Me too I couldn't figure out before but there's a search tool for this.

This one looks good to me too. I would, however, be sure there is a return option before I bought a cabat on eBay. If you could take it to a Bottega Store to validate it after purchase, that would be best.
The new ones do go for the price listed, thanks to the strong Euro and the weak dollar!

Thank you so much for the information, people here are really helpful, I would be more careful about these, I don't know if something wrong with the bag, because the auction was ended earlier with someone won the bid, thought the seller can't end the auction early.

gtvicky-there's now a chain veneta in the Italian Outlet in the Mall-contact Ingrid at leccio@it.bottegaveneta.com

I also was doing more research and when you get the tag picture, you can take a look at http://cgi.ebay.com/BOTTEGA-VENETA-Handbag-Medium-Catena-Chain-Hobo-White_W0QQitemZ250242964061QQcmdZViewItem?_trksid= p3286.m20.l1116 for the same bag. I don't think this one has been authenticated by the real experts, but to me it looks right.

Also this one was authenticated awhile ago by the experts....http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Discounted-Authentic-Bottega-Veneta-Hobo-Purse-Bag_W0QQitemZ270258283756QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item2 70258283756&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318

yes it sounds funky. don't worry, there are always more lovely bags to be had! and it is probably just around the corner...... also if you really want the chain, why not email the italian outlet from lawbabe's note? then you don't have to worry about fakes.

Better pictures of the tags inside. What do you think?

The tag pictures look like the same ones that she had listed. The style part of the tag matches the BV website and the ebay purse color is different than the one on the bv website. However, the color code does match other bags with this design and color. I think you said she had a 7 day return policy as well. Again, I am just a fan, not an expert.

The leather and the stitching look good. She says the bag is silver. As a seller, I know some times things photograph slightly differently at times. But this is a lot of money for a gamble. What to do?

Ladies take a look at this one. it looks like a fake to me, but would like your opinion.

http://cgi.ebay.com/VGC-AUTH-BOTTEGA...QQcmdZViewItem

there are already bidders and it would be sad for them to buy a fake.

I saw this bag online and it's pretty, but I don't know what kind of leather it is, I really like the nappa leather, but I don't think this one is, any idea?

I have this bag in red, and all of the name stamps are in the same place on my bag. And the style number on the white tag is the same. So it seems OK.

I believe that bag is in "nappa umbria" - like the Sloane, Pyramid and Roma. I think that means it is nappa that is treated slightly differently (waxed?) than the regular nappa used for bags like the Veneta and Montaigne.

And I think that the colour is Old Petra (which is only a nappa umbria and not a regular nappa colour). I have a satchel in Old Petra and it is SUCH a beautiful colour - and very hard to find now since it is from SS 07. I don't find the leather noticeably different than the regular nappa in my other BVs... So I say go for it!!!
