(Restoration) - I Dyed My BV!
In an attempt to restore my old/fading bv lanyard (the fading isnt well capture in the picture. but its somewhat turning black), I bought DYLON's leather dye, to give it a new life!
So here it is... From 2007 Green to Black! |

Using the brush provided, I paint the lanyard generously with the dye. Since its braided, there's alot of small corners and requires extra attention. Two coats to get the desired black.
Also, I tapped the hardware to prevent it from dropping to the wet paint area. Once dry, I shift the hardware to the painted side, and start on the other half. |

Fantastic job! My blue key chain is slowly turning black too but I really don't want to dye it. I'm still searching for an effective way to clean it.

I didnt want to dye it either, i looove the green. But the fading's too severe, and it looks dirty and unpresentable. I also bought a silver cleaning solution from Tiffany&Co. to clean the hardware. Its shinning like new now! |

can you tell what the effect of the leather was? is it stiffer or crackley feeling?

When i first applied the dye, it was extremely uneven, and little dots were form on the lanyard.
But after drying it overnight, the dye smooths out, leaving a smooth coat. It does became stiffer, like a brand new piece. No cracky feeling for sure. It feels like new. The dye smell was gone the next day. Now, it has no smell. Even my friends thought i bought a new piece! |
