Hi all,
The handles of my BV Bag seems to be cracking.... its at the part where the sealant (or whatever they call it) is... I don't have pictures of the cracks on my bags... but they are exacly the same as the pictures on the miu miu thread below: My BRAND NEW baBy is already *DAMAGED! I own 2 BV bags ans 1 BV wallet... The minute I discovered this problem.. I checked all my other BVs. They all have cracks!!! But the one with the most cracks is my newest bag of all, used a max of 5 times!!! So its not really due to wear and tear? I don't quite know what to do now... my BVs were all bought overseas... I'm not sure if BV here would entertain such defect issues.... I will try to post a picture of the extent of the cracks on my bags in the next few days.... but for now.. I've only got a picture of my BV bags... Does any of you also have this problem? Any suggestions of what can be done? It is so upsetting to pay so much for a bag and yet have this happen... I thought they were of a certain level of quality? |

I'm so sorry to hear about your BV bag!!! To be honest I bought a BV bag last year.. hard to find a picture of but it had a chain handle with the woven details and patent leather trim. the chain was too heavy for the delicate leather, so one of the handles actually RIPPED (I only used it around 5 times never putting anything heavier than a wallet and maybe a water bottle in there). It was all sold out by the time I wanted to exchange it, repairs didn't seem worth it so I just returned it.
To be honest cracks don't bother me that much. I think they give the bag more character and it's just a natural process of having a bag being broken in. Of course this depends on how severe the cracks are. I would recommend going to the boutique. If the sales associate says they can't do anything about it ask to speak to the manager. They might be able to exchange or at the very least repair or seal some of the damage for you. Good luck!! |

pinkie19, so sorry to hear of your predicament.
You'll be glad to hear this. I've been told by the SAs, that regardless where you bought your bag, as long as they are genuine BV, BV Singapore will accept on behalf repairs, problems etc. The downside is, these bags with problems will be sent back to Italy and it will take 3-6 months (more like 6 months actually) for them to come back to you. Although the 2 models you posted are fairly recent ones, I don't think you will be given a replacement. They will return it to Italy for repairs. I once saw a customer, brought in a brand new bag which he just purchased from HK. BV took it in and told him it will have to be a 6 months wait. So, quickly bring your bags and wallet to the boutique and see what they have to say. Oh, do keep us informed of this saga. Good luck. |

thanks for your advice i wll most certainly bring the bags to BV Singapore and get them to take a look at it. However, 6 months is a really long time... The quality is somewhat disappointing though... I wonder does anyone else with the same models have the similar problems with the sealant on the handles (or anywhere else for that matter)? The BV bags are at least 1.5x the price of an equivalent LV bag. Besides the more luxe materials, I would also expect an equivalent or even better standard of service.. I had an LV bag that had defects after prolonged usage. I brought it back after more than a year and LV replaced one for me on the spot. The replacement bag also displayed the same problems after prolonged use... so I brought it back in again and LV gave me a credit not for it (the bag was no longer being produced). Surely its not too much to ask for comparable service from BV? Anyway... will post updates next weekend.. that would be the earliest I can find time to go to town. Oh well....

I took out my braided handle tote for a spin today and noticed what looked like "gunk" on the side one of the rings. It came off easily enough and then I realized it came from the spot where the ring joins. It looks like BV uses a glue like substance to create a smooth join. Lo and behold the same thing happened to the other ring. Now they both have an obvious space and one ring doesn't even line up straight. Has anyone else had this experience?

I just bought this bag in December but haven't taken it into a boutique for advice/repair yet. BTY, will BV repair bags not purchased from their boutiques? Hope someone has some good news about this problem.... |

It sounds like the same style. I've had it about two years but I've only used it about 12 times.

I bought a wallet from local store and saw sealant cracks so I brought it back to them. It's a sale item so strictly no exchange etc. They told me that it's inevitable that sealant cracks appear however it should not worsen over time.
In other words, what you see should stay that way and if it doesn't, you can send it in for repairs, FOC if within 6 months. Eventually I did sell away the wallet (not becoz of the sealant cracks) and bought another BV wallet (a colour I love) and that doesn't have any sealant cracks watsoever. I suggest you bring it back to the boutique and see what they say. I do agree sealant cracks happen to bags/wallets etc of any brands but it's the severity of it that is important.

Hi
I have problems with my BV tote too. I only used it 2 times. I pampered it and literally wore it for no more than 20 minutes each time. Guess what? The very boxy corner of the tote ripped off. I was disappointed with that too. I haven't brought it to the shop yet. I'm thinking of selling it. It's white so it's very hard to take care of. |

By braided handle tote is back from BV. There were five areas where the leather was nicked. One was my fault. It got caught on the seat track in my car. The other nicks remain a mystery. The repairs are visible only on very close inspection. It looks like BV "glued" the leather and applied some dye. The cost was $60. Interestingly, my SA who handled this for me, said she was having a problem with her Julie and after seeing my bag she was inspired to send hers for repair. I also have a Julie, which I infrequently use. The leather around the middle appears to be lifting in the center seam. Anyone else having this problem?

In posts# 5 and 10 I talk about my noce braided handle tote. Since then, I've been using this bag almost exclusively all summer. I just noticed the leather has nicked in several more places, the finish is coming off the rings and the leather on the underside of the braided handle is cracking. Anyone else with this style having these issues?
