Default oxidation on LE metal plate
I am not sure whether you can see this, but i noticed the metal plate on my cabat is getting oxidized. as you know this is a new cabat, so it seems weird this would happen so fast. you can see it on the upper right corner of the first picture most prominently. the oxidation basically is occurring all along the right and bottom edge of the plate.

anyone else with an LE bag notice this?

i will take it in to BV next weekend to see what they have to say.

I have the same problem in my Cabat. I don't have a big problem with it being rusted, but it would be interesting on fiding out what BV says about it.

My GF & I were just talking about this, it is happening on her LE bag and she never even carried it!
Doloresmia, please let us know what they say so I may pass this info on to my GF.

I even saw it on a displayed large Nero Cabat at Harvery Nic
As an extra precaution I protect the pouch inside BVshoes sleeper bag.
It fits perfectly.
I live in very humid weather so it is only a matter of time before the oxidization starts.
Please let us know what BV says, really appreciated.

I think humidity has a lot to do with oxidation. You probably don't have any Chinese drywall problems where you are, but here in South Florida, we have a major problem with the sulphur in drywall that came from China. This drywall rusts and corrodes everything metal from plumbing fixtures right down to jewelry over time. It's horrible. But, I guess what I am saying is, you can hardly control what is airborne. Good thing you are looking into it, though because I wouldn't want that happening to me either.

ladies and gentlemen, i heard from our uber SA bryan and he recommends just using a silver polishing cloth from Tiffany & Co.

There is also something my DH uses on his expensive watches and i believe was recommended on the H forum for polishing.

will try this this weekend and report back!

The funny thing is that we live in SoCal, and the weather here is extremely DRY.

I noticed that the oxidation is inside the plate (underneath the clear coating?) and not on the outside surface. How about yours, D?

Does it have to be Tiffany silver polish?
Or any silver polish will do?
I have Christofle antioxidant liquid, do you think it is safe to use it?
BTW any idea what is the LE plaque made of?

I think that is what is happening.... it is weird to have the oxidation happening in our very very dry climate, isn't it?

i would assume any kind of silver polish would be ok to use, but maybe test a small area? or check the ingredients of the tiffany polish against your christofle? i think the polishing clothes from tiffany or cape cod polishing clothes are easier to use than a liquid, because they are clothes and you don't want that stuff to touch the leather.

if you are worried, then i would take your bag into your BV. they will definitely take care of you.

I inquired about tarnishing hardware on the Hermes thread and they informed me to use Jeweler's rouge cloth to take the tarnish out. They say it works beautifully. I just ordered mine and am still waiting for it to come in.

Doloresmia, how did your project go? Did it work with the Tiffany cloth?

My PO med cabat is new but I noticed this as well. I have the tiffany polishing cloth and just used it on my LE plate - it worked! It looks amazing now!
