And I thank you for getting back to me so quickly.
The Sasha Duffle was made in purple cowhide.

I've recently purchased the Evans shoulder bag on sale at Neiman Marcus. I love the style and it is a good quality bag, great size, great shape, great leather. However, on the bag I received, the row of metal pieces is not parallel with the edge of the bag. I don't know if it is supposed to be that way, or it is a craftsmen issue with this particular bag. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm deciding if I need to exchange the bag. Thank you.

We're glad you like the styling and quality of the EVANS shoulder. We do recommend that you exchange the bag because the hardware is supposed to be well alined. When you do make your exchange enjoy the EVANS this summer; she's a perfect shopping buddy

Hi just wondering if you have any stockists in the UK? Would love to purchase the Valentina Satchel, when will the new colours be available?

I notice the newer bags on Botkier's website are lower priced than what Botkier sold for in the past. Has the materials/quality been reduced in order to bring pricing down?
thank you.

This is a great question! Thanks for taking the time to post it.
Now to the answer. The contemporary handbag market has changed quite a bit since we originally pioneered it in 2003. Tanneries, factories, brands have all adapted. In fact when the consumer dictates a newer broader range of prices including lower ones, it pushes the innovators to get even more creative and not rest on our laurels. Sacrificing quality is not an option. That said in today's more difficult economy people don't love the old sweet spot ($595) as much as they used to. We've had a runaway hit with our VALENTINA bags not simply because they are less expensive at $395/$295 but because the price value association is legitimate. The strength of Botkier is in our design, quality and functionality. We believe in the statement piece for everyday. This Holiday Resort we will debut little frame party bags at $195 AND python clutches for $595. For Fall my favorite satchel is the Brando with some exotic materials at $595 while we will have Lucy an amazing midsize crossbody at $395 with all our usual custom detailing. The idea is simply to have broadened our range to give our customer more choice and more of what she loves!
Hope this helps xo

thank you for your thoughtful reply to my question!
I have your Jackie satchel and it is very nice leather and also very functional. I look forward to seeing your new designs and I understand with the changing economy you must adjust to maintain and grow your business.

sdkitty, I think your question is a great one. I collect mid-range handbags from a bunch of brands and have noticed a decline in quality, or at least quality control pretty much across the board over the last few years. I can think of examples from Rebecca Minkoff, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Kooba and Treesje off the top of my head. Out of all the mid-range brands I have experience with I think Botkier has consistently maintained the best quality and certainly the most durability.

I'm not affiliated with Botkier, in any way, btw. That is just my personal opinion on the subject. :)

thanks
It's nice that if Botkier is going to have to cut corners a bit and maybe use leather that's not quite as high quality, at least they are passing the savings to the consumer....
I'm glad I have one of the "old school" bags and this may create a bit more interest for me in getting another past season bag if the opportunity arises
