Default Should I or Shouldn't I??
I have the Nicole tote in jean blue lambskin, and I like the bag ok but I'm tired of the color. I'm thinking about dyeing it a dark purple or maybe a dark reddish color. Or even a dark blue. Something that will go with the gunmetal hardware.

Also, which product should I use if i decide to go forward with my project? I really love the softness of the leather and I would hate to ruin it.

Thoughts, feelings, opinions?

Oh I don't know if I would dye it. Really, it's a gorgeous color and such a great neutral. (I have the blue jean Nicole satchel and I use it a ton so I know the color first hand.)

Why don't you just sell it? It's tough to find that color now, you might get good money for it and then can go out and get something new.

That is such a gorgeous color but if you're tired of it and want to dye it, I say go for it! There are several threads about pfers doing this and they all used I think, Terra something dye. I'm too scared to try this myself b/c it seems like a tedious process.

I really like the blue jean color. I haven't seen any Botkier dye jobs, but the girls in the RM & Balenciaga forum have a lot of success. Good luck on your decision!

Yeah, I think I've chickened out. I'd hate to ruin a perfectly good bag.

Thanks!

Well, I'm only just in the process of dyeing my James satchel from deep purple to black.

Whilst I really love the style I just couldn't get used to the color. I hope to finish this weekend and will then try to post some pics. So far, I like the result a lot.

OMG don't! The jean color is gorgeous. I just wish I didn't miss out on buying the Sasha in this color. The bag looks perfect to me.

P.S. I've dyed a suede bag based on people's threads in the Bal forum and it wasn't hard. I was super nervous about it though :P

I also have a Vixen satchel in Taupe that I'm thinking about dyeing...the color is so off now from what it was when I first bought it. I'd like to see pics of your James when you're finished.

I think I'd be less reluctant to dye the Nicole if I didn't want to go to a completely different color. I got the bag because I couldn't refuse at the price it was marked and it's not a style or color I would have fallen in love with and paid full retail.
I do, however, love how it feels. I've been carrying it for a few months now and it's held up remarkably well considering I haven't exactly babied it. It is so veryvery soft, like little baby angel wings on my fingertips , and I don't want to ruin it.

Maybe I'll search for a broken down bag on Ebay for my first dyeing experiment....

I wouldn't, personally. I dyed a Botkier hobo I bought on the 'bay because I wasn't fond of the color IRL, and the leather just doesn't feel the same. I used the tarrago dyes everyone on here has raved about, and while the color looks good and the dye took well, it seems almost "plastic-y" now and I lost the feel of that awesome leather.
