Hi Everyone!
I recently purchased Jackie and I know nothing about this bag. I LOVE the style, it fits everything I carry with me every day, the handle length is perfect, etc. Also, the leather is TDF!!! BUT... Before I start using it, would you, please, tell me how this bag wears? Does it lose its shape over time? Does leather scratch/scuff easily? Does leather fade? If you own Jackie, how do you like it? Is it worth the money? Any info would be appreciated! Thank you! |

I just ordered the Jackie from NM during the holidays. I haven't used mine in public yet but it seems to scuff somewhat easily because the black lamb leather is very smooth and soft. I was showing it to some co-workers (as it arrived at my work address) and I already noticed a light scuff in the front. I didn't even bump it into anything hard, except maybe the shipping box. I don't necessarily mind the scuffing because I think this bag probably will age well and the scuffs add character.
As such, I'm planning to order more Apple protectant to spray over my bag before I use it, especially because we've been experiencing some rain in Southern California. I'm super paranoid. Someone else posted recently about the Morgan (which is a similar bag with more fringe), and she said hers color-rubbed off onto her clothing. Morgan Thread. I paid $319 (excluding tax) approximately when I bought it and I think it's worth that much. The leather is TDF and just in the office and at home with friends, I've already received a ton of compliments on it. Did you get the black or the yellow? I love the yellow but I never buy black bags so I needed to get this color instead. |

^^^ Thank you very much for your response!
I bought the black. You got me worried now though... I'll be paranoid about the color rubbing off now... I'll be super careful with it though. :-) |

Hey gals... It was me... Morgan with the leather rubbing off. I e-mailed customer service and here is their reply:
Thank you for your support of Botkier. In all of our handbags, we include a care card that clearly states that the wearer needs to be careful of using the bag next to light colored clothing. This transfer sometimes happens when the leather rubs up against certain clothing materials. We recommend you to treat the bag with weatherproof agent for lambskin. Please try on the bottom of the bag first! We recommend products from Lexol or Apple leather care. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to email us! Hope it helps. Enjoy your new bags! |

emma: btw, i was wondering, you mentioned Apple leather protectant spray... I was wondering is that something different? I was looking at leatherstuff.com and they don't have something like that. Is there somewhere else to get it? Please let me know, I'm new to this protecting leather thing. Thanks.

^^^ Thank you for your response! I guess I need to spray it well, huh? I use Meltonian Water and Stain Repellent spray and I love it! I got a free bottle (this is my 4th bottle of this product) with the purchase of Jackie.

I've used it on my L.A.M.B glazed lambskin bag and it worked very well. I had a sweater that color-transferred onto the bag (the bag was silver) and after the Apple Repellent, it removed completely and easily. I also used the Apple brand conditioner and cleaner too. It does have quite a powerful pungent smell though, so I spray mine out on the patio and let it dry in an airy room. The only other brand I've tried is Coach (but not on lambskin) but I find it to be quite harsh. I once used Coach cleaner on a Juicy Couture pebbled leather bag (pink) and the stain stayed while a bleach-like ring formed around the stain. I've used the Coach cleaner on Coach bags without problems but with other brands, I'm very hesitant.

^^Great. Thanks for the info. I am surely going to order it. I switched out bags yesterday because of the rain up here in the bay area. I own and have used the Coach cleaner before as well and I have used it on a white Coach bag that had some color transfer on it. Didn't help much, then again, it was from denim. I'm going to try and use the Apple stuff when it comes in.
Just curious, what do you use altogether? I mean, do you condition the bag first and then apply the water and stain repellant or skip the first step? Does it change the look and feel of the leather? Have you used it on your Jackie already? |

I think it has directions on the products but I'm not sure. I haven't used it in a while and that's why I'm re-ordering all the supplies. My old ones leaked.
If I remember correctly, I probably cleaned/conditioned first, then sprayed. I also used it on my lambskin wallet and cosmetics case too and those are holding up well. I love the conditioner. Even my boyfriend was surprised by the softness after I conditioned it. |

Did the leather transfer come off when you washed your clothes? I also have a small Morgan that I haven't used yet. I've never treated any of the bags I own so I'm a little concerned about this. I've never had any type of transfer issues and I own a lot of bags. This seems like a hassle to me.

Just a note for you ladies with Jackies and Morgans...
I just used AppleGarde on my black Jackie. I cleaned it, conditioned it and sprayed it. I haven't worn it since I treated it. However, when I cleaned it, the color was coming off the bag and onto the cloth. That being said, I did the same thing to my Goldenbleu petrol leather clutch and it was doing that too. However, when I cleaned my LAMB glazed silver bag and my Hayden Harnett wallet, nothign happened. I only wore the bag once before that and I wore it with a black suit so I can't tell if there's color transfer. Just an FYI. |

^^Hmmm poop. Thanks for the info though. Ever since my color transfer issue, I have only used my Morgan with dark-colored clothing. I wonder if treating it has solved the issue? Can you let us now please emma, when you use your bag again? Also, did treating the bag change it's appearance--colorwise? Still haven't treated mine. TIA

I realized I never updated you on the bag!
I've worn it with both light and dark color clothing of a variety of materials (like I would with any other bag) and so far, it's been fine without color transfer. I've also carried it in the rain (though not pouring rain) and maybe because of the protectant, I haven't noticed any water damage. I think the conditioner made the bag a wee bit more supple, but not significantly different from its pre-treated state. Overall, I'm happy I treated it. |

I received two Jackies I ordered at NM (yellow and black). I love the style! But decided to keep the yellow one as the black one doesn't appeal to me. To plain... Love the leather! So soft....
