Default New Botkier, already fraying! Help!
I was so excited today because my Botkier small Morgan satchel finally arrived from Gilt, but my excitement was quickly put on hold when I noticed that some of the fringe on the top/front-gasp- is coming apart! Literally, the fringe is splitting in two and it looks awful... what do you ladies suggest I do? :( Do any of you have this problem? Is it supposed to do that?? WTH?

I would call Botkier CS and see about them replacing it for you.

They'd replace it even though I bought it at Gilt Groupe?

I believe you have to contact Gilt. I have my own experience!
Gilt exchanged mine, luckly they had stock. but if not, I think they should give store credit?

I think since Gilt is an authorized retailer, Botkier CS should still take care of you.

I think Gilt has had a previous tendency to send bags out in poor condition (for other brands too), so I'd check with them first to see if they can exchange the bag for you. Otherwise, yeah, I think Botkier CS ought to be able to help you out. Good luck!

Hmm.. good point. I'm still waiting to hear back from Gilt, and I'll contact Botkier tomorrow as my cell is getting repaired. I'll take a couple of snap shots too ..oh how bittersweet that will be. Thanks for all of your help ladies!

Hi gals.. so I talked to Gilt and Botkier, but Gilt can only offer me a return or $100 credit. Botkier, on the other hand, is offering a return or an exchange for a bag of equal or lesser value. Proplem is, this is my absolute favorite Botkier bag and it's all sold out. I took it to the best repair shop I could find, but all they had to offer was cutting away at the bag leather which would leave the fringe thinner than the rest, and it would hang differently. Here are some photos of the damage. What do you guys think I should do? I'm so torn...

I would return to Botkier for an exchange on another bag unless you think you can live with it. If it were me, I would return it though.

Yeah..I'm considering exchanging it for a Jackie satchel in black because they kind of look similar.. the only thing is I'm worried about the size. I like my bags to be on the smaller side, and am worried that the jackie would be huge. I guess we'll see. Thanks for the input :)

Yikes! Oh no, that really looks pretty bad... Yeah, I'd either return it to Gilt or exchange it with Botkier too, as it doesn't really look like it's worth keeping. I don't think you ought to force yourself to accept the fraying fringe, even if you love the bag now, because that may not stay the same in the future, IYKWIM?

What's the size of the Jackie satchel like in comparison to the Morgan?

I would exchange the bag. The funny thing about Botkier bags online is that pictures don't really do them justice. I'm sure you'll love your new bag once you see it in person, whatever style you choose.
