Hi all,
I am a botkier newbie and just dying to get one of these bags, but cannot decide which one I should get. If I want to get a black one, which one do you think is most versatile? I like big bags (even though I am kind of thin and small-only 5'2), but are these really big? Since I have to buy it online, it's harder to decide. headaches, headaches, headaches ![]() ![]() ![]() Please help me choose!!!!!!! |

well I have the uma satchel and I absolutely love it, so I would suggest that one. The james hobo is really cute too though. I think James is bigger, but I've never seen it in real life. Uma is pretty medium sized IMO. I find it versatile because the handles are long enough to wear over your shoulder but it is comfortable and cool-looking when worn with the long strap as well.

I have the James Satchel in purple and I love it! I'm about the same size as you, thin, 5'2 and I think the size is perfect. I do like big bags though. I like to carry my bags on my shoulders and the satchel was more comfortable than the hobo was imo.
I haven't seen the Uma in real life but it does look awesome, esp with that extra strap! Good luck with your choice! |

The Sasha can appear larger or smaller, and in different forms, so is therefore more versatile. But all of them are nice!

For sizes, I think the Sasha Medium Duffle is probably the largest of them all, since it can convert from a (smaller) satchel to a (larger) hobo. The James Hobo is fairly large too, but the Sasha is probably deeper. (The James Hobo can be pretty flat depending on what you put in it.) If you're concerned about a bag possibly being too big, though, maybe you could try the Uma?
Also, do you mean versatility as in multiple ways of carrying a bag, or as in style (e.g. can use it for a variety of occasions)? IMHO, the Sasha looks best as a hobo, as I'm not too fond of how it looks as a satchel. The James Hobo makes a pretty decent cross-body as well as a hobo, though the rolled handle can make it a little painful carried hobo-style if your bag's heavy. The James Satchel can only be carried as a satchel, I think, if it has no detachable shoulder strap. However, I think you could pull off carrying the James Satchel on a daily basis as well as for dinners/nights out. The Uma might be the most versatile both in carrying styles and in suitability for multiple occasions, IMHO. Either way, though, these are definitely all great bags, so you can't go too far wrong!

Thank you so much, guys! And starkfan, you know so much about these bags! Thanks a lot for the detailed info.
I like to carry bags on my shoulders and am looking for a bag for everyday. Right now, I am kind of leaning toward the Uma or the Sasha (more toward the Uma). But the thing is I don't know where I can get a good deal on the black Uma. I missed a great deal on the black Uma at funkylala. so sad!!!! anyways, heyitsrobin, what color do you have? Have you guys seen the choclate Uma? I think ShopBop has it. Is it too dark to carry around in the summer? I am so indecisive!!!! Plz help me!!!!! |

MyObsessionsBoutique has 1 uma in black left...it's $495 and use "save30" for additional 30% off
I have both Uma (ash color) and Sasha medium... Uma is more casual bag and delicate whereas sasha can be used on business occassions imo Hope this helps |

I absolutely love my Three Sasha's! I recommend this bag to everyone!!!! I have the Silver Nylon and the Marine Patent in the smaller size, and the Rose (which is a brighter pink) in the larger size. I highly recommend them to newbies :)
