Oh, I also wish Botkier had more interesting linings. I love the bags but a great lining can be so wonderful. Please hot pink, electric blue or purple inside...even Coach is doing it!!

I have 4 Botkiers and one RM (Beige Stud Devote Tote) and I have to say that Botkier is far better IMO. I've been through a lot with those bags, and the only problem I had was the screw from the metal tusk on the Bryant came off. As soon as I contacted Botkier, they sent me a bunch of screws immediately, which is great, just in case another one comes loose. My stud devote is about 4 weeks old and already has issues (the studs scratch SO fast...) I take SUCH good care of it and it's already messed up...so disappointing..plus the leather has small blue marks on the edge, probably caused from my jeans. While this was probably my fault, I still don't think the color should have transferred that quickly. Still a beautiful bag!

In my humble opinion, bright interiors are not appropriate for classy and high end bags. Botkier has clearly established a very elegant and high end brand feel to her items, and if she will start doing linings of all rainbow colors, it will make her brand look very mainstream, which is what I consider Coach and RM to be. There is a major difference between Botkier and RM and of course, Coach, because in my view, Botkier is striving and succeeding to be a higher class and more refined brand.

I disagree with this post. I own several Botkiers and in my opinion the leather quality is TDF in every season. I also own a Venice hobo, and what I love most about it is the expensive feel of the lambskin. The brushed hardware is lovely too. In my opinion, the materials are only getting better and more luxurious and not "cheaper" in any way. I can only dream of how luxurious the leathers will be on the new season bags!!! Cant wait to get me some!!

I totally disagree...I love to see a pop of color from inside the bag. It is sort of like knowing you are wearing your hot pink sexy lingere under your business suit but no one else does. I don't see anything wrong with a black bag and a deep purple or fushcia lining for example. It does not have anything to do with class, it has to do with interest and being fresh.

I would only want a colored lining if the material were satin or suede... Otherwise it looks cheap to me.

I would die if Botkier had jewel toned satin linings like Marc Jacobs' Memphis line...

I totally agree with you. I love the suede linings in Marc Jacobs' older bags. They were colorful, yet classy... and also added a good amount of weight, but I don't mind :P

It is simply a matter of preference and personal taste. Some of us clearly associate bright lining with cheap or even vulgar looks, and some associate it with freshness, etc..
I am definitely for the neutral dignified lining, unless it is a beach bag!!

I love an unexpected colorful lining. I think it makes the bag. RM linings are great and HHs are even more fun.

Botkier used to have a scrumptious beige suede lining.

I'd love to have a pretty floral or patterned lining (like RM's). It does really make a difference to me, sometimes seeing a pretty lining makes it smile. Also I kind of feel like an all-black lining makes the bag a bit of a black hole, because it's harder to find stuff inside..

This is partly why I probably won't buy a new Botkier (and I have owned several). For $600 you got a bag with soft, high quality leather and suede lining. No one was making a bag at that level at that price point. I had my older Bianca with me the other day and was looking in Saks and they didn't feel anything like my old bag.

Oh my! Class is about the person carrying the bag; not the color of the lining.

Yes that is true. However, we are talking not about the person, we are talking about the bag. Classy bag that is. A bag can be classy and the person may not be, and vice versa.
