Default Botkier at Target, good move or bad
Just wondered what everybody thinks about Botkier selling at Target? Will it hurt her boutique status at all? How will people that aren't purse savy know the difference if you paid $30 or $400?

Most folk who aren't "into" bags probably won't know if a bag cost $50 or $500.

they looked decent when i saw them from afar at target, but since i know Botkier, they just looked like she ripped off her own designs. i wasn't a fan :/ but i could see how people who don't have Botkiers would like them.

My only concern is if they make pleather exact versions of their more expensive bags. I think that does cheapen the more expensive bag. I would expect, though, that the Target versions would be the same sort of style, IYKWIM. I'm torn on the issue, really. It's like the debate with the upcoming HH for Target line: I like these brands (Botkier, HH, etc.) because they aren't run-of-the-mill, everyone-has-one bag. I'm not sure I'd want to see everyone carrying one. However, I do think that(handled properly) it's a good business move, to open up your market and get more people interested in the more expensive line (maybe. Maybe the Target crowd wouldn't ever spend that much on a bag. ?) I think it would only really bug me if I saw the exact same bag I had bought for about $500 or so in a $30 pleather version.

Same here.
I have LVs and Chanels and love this bag as well.
I've actually been into carrying less obvious bags lately and since I'll be starting school again in September, I want to be a little less show-offy.

The Target line does say "for Target" on it so once you look at them, you know where they came from (and if you're a fan of Botkier's regular line, you can spot these as being the line from Target)...now if they just said "Botkier" on them like the regular line, then I'd be more annoyed.

I wish they had such wonderful brands doing handbag collections at aussie target! I'm so jealous!
