Has anyone ever randomly discovered a new band or artist that they totally ended up loving?
Ryan Malcolm was the winner of Canadian Idol in 2007 I believe. I really liked him so my friend bought me his CD. I randomly found it the other day and uploaded it to my iTunes. I Googled him today to see if he had done any new music and I found out that he started a band. I have listened to a few songs and love them! They're called Low Level Flight if anyone want to check them out!
I got into Irish band Kerbdog and Aussie bands Eskimo Joe and Birds Of Tokyo from video links on forums. Actually, there have been a lot of artists I like that I've discovered quite by accident thanks to the Internet, but those ones come to mind right now.
I listen to a lot of bands and artists that aren't mainstream (meaning aren't totally played out on the radio). I love finding artists that not many people know about because then it doesn't get a lot of attention. I think the one band that I found randomly years ago that really stuck with me is Within Temptation. They are absolutely amazing and Sharon's voice is stunning!

The band I recently discovered and they only released 1 song is Canvas Kites, the song called Wayside.
I'm patiently waiting for an album.
Effing awesome song I can hear it on repeat all day.
It is amazing that all my favorite bands are Aussies (INXS and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds)
My friend and I were on a roadtrip. It was her turn to choose the music, and a song by the Mystery Jets came up. I've been hooked on them ever since! I've even seen them live already. I don't know how big they are in the States, but here in Mexico, they're not even on the radio.
Matt and Kim - Just saw them open up for MCR/Blink 182 and they were so much fun. They're not the music I usually listen to, but they made me happy just to watch them.
Three Michelle Gun Elephant - an old rock band (I believe one of the band members already passed away) from the early 90's but just started listening to them. They're really good.
The Tune Yards...I don't know if I'd buy an album, but they are definitely avant garde. The one I like is on youtube.. Powa (4AD session). An aquired taste but so innovative musically!
