Hi Ladies!

(I hope this is the right place to post this)

I'm looking to get an ereader (most likely the latest Sony).
I tried it out the other day and was quite disturbed by the black flashing as the page refreshes when its being turned.
I was told that this happens with all ereaders due to the eink technology and that I'll get used to it after awhile.

For those who have been using an ereader - how long did it take for you to get used to the black flashes and do you still notice it?
Any other advice for a new ereader owner would be great too!

Thanks!

I guess I'm used to it because I had to turn on my Kindle to see what you meant.

eInk is a lot easier on the eyes than back-light (like computers or some of the newest eReaders) if you only want to read novels and such, but not that great for magazines, cookbooks, etc. with pictures.

There is a new colour Kindle (and Kobo if you are in Canada) for around $200 that some people think compares to a tablet computer (but they are back-lit).

I have a Nook that uses e-ink and no, it doesn't flash at all.

Yeah, it happens when the pages are turned on my kindle. I don't even notice it anymore (I've had my kindle for about 9 months) and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't notice it after the first couple weeks.

I had a problem with my Kindle where the "flash" was extended. I restarted it and the problem was gone. I never notice the flash as the page turns now. It is really fast. Maybe try a different e-reader? See which one you like best. They now have a bunch of them at Walmart stores including Kindle and Nook.
