Some of my pet peeves when traveling:
-people who fly the red eye with crying babies
-people who try to talk to you if you're traveling alone
-bad breath/BO; a plane is too small of a space to not exercise basic hygiene
-clueless travelers in the airport who can't figure out which terminal they need to go to
And I cannot for the life of me figure out how, with all the carry-on restrictions that most airlines have now, how people get their full size luggage through security and onto the plane as a carry on. DH and I went to Phoenix, AZ for Spring Training in March. His best friend came with us. We were flying out early on a Wednesday morning. Made our way (after a coffee stop) to the gate; there's this chick with her significant other carrying 4 assorted Coach bags and a wheeled suitcase (albeit a small one). The gate agent stopped her and told her that she can't take 5 carry-on bags. So she held up the line (and delayed our departure) stuffing her smaller bags into the wheeled bag. I was pissed because we had a connection in ATL (and those of you who travel a lot may know, the ATL airport SUCKS!) and I told DH that if we missed our flight, I was going to wring her neck. /sarcasm
The people with too much carry on seems to be a universal dislike! People who will do anything to avoid paying to check a bag. If that is such a hardship you shouldn't be taking a vacation requiring a flight.
I also hate when you get lucky enough to have an empty seat between you and the next person and they think it's ok to spread out entirely across the second seat and still somehow manage to crowd you. If you paid for that extra seat prove it, otherwise I'm shoving your crap to the middle of the seat and taking my part!
The only other things I hate about traveling almost all have to do with my size. As a bigger person flying can be embarrassing and physically painful, and god help you if you lose any luggage (I lost luggage in Germany once, I was pretty much SOL on finding anything to wear, and it was soooo embarrassing to have to ask) however, I accept that that is mostly my own fault.
People who don't realize how long the flight is going to be and get antsy midway through a long flight. This especially applies to people traveling with children. You're getting onto a 15 hour flight and brought no toys or snacks for your two year old? Yes they have movies, but that's not going to work the whole flight. Also, they aren't going to be able to sleep because he/she doesn't have his/her own seat and is too big to stretch out on your lap. Please if it's a long flight, get your child a separate seat and bring some other form of entertainment. I know it's expensive, but it's worth it.
I think my biggest pet peeve is the way the parents try and quiet their children when they're crying. Yes, I know you want your child to be quiet, but yelling at them isn't going to help. It's more annoying to me than the kid.
Another one is people who don't listen to the flight attendants. No, you can't walk around 15 seconds before we land. Please pay attention for your own safety.
Get stuck with crying kids for 10-14 hours of flying.
Parents who think it is OK for kids to run around and scream.
People who talk to each other when everyone is sleeping during a very long fly.
Taking shoes, belts and other stuff in airport.
Annoying kids that scream and cry. And parents that don't discipline them but let them do what they want.
People that kick the back of my seat.
People that move their chair on a plane so far back that they are lying on top of me. Really? C'mon guys, you know we all don't have space here do don't be a dick!
Flight attendants that don't watch where they are going and smack me in the head when I bend down to get something out of my bag. You're walking down the aisle and clearly can see my head. So be patient and don't smack me in the head!
People who freak out when trying to get their luggage off the carousel. It's going to come back around... Calm yourselves!
- Being with misbehaving children, or babies that cry for a majority of the flight.
- Long delays.
- People who talk loudly around others that are trying to sleep, read, etc.
- People who are pushy when getting in line to board a flight.
I've posted in here before, but lately security has been driving me crazy! I don't know if people have been living in a hole, but I'm shocked at the number of people who don't understand liquids, laptops, shoes etc...oh and the ones who carry on their entire lives and hold the line up!
