We just got back back from our Peru vacation, last month. We did Cusco, Sacred Valley, Machu Picchu, and the
Amazon rainforest.
We stayed at the Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica, which was very nice, and the tours were phenomenal. We flew from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado and then were taken by boat 1 hour up the river to our lodge. The resorts are in the Amazonian Rainforest but not directly on the
Amazon river. Great trip if you are into wildlife. We saw monkeys, cayman, tarantulas, agute(cross between a squirrel and a mouse without a tail), snakes, various birds toucan, macaw, parrots etc.
The
Amazon rainforest was definitely the highlight of our trip.
