If you want to shop, I think you might like The Palazzo since it's right across from The Fashion Show Mall. Aria has The Crystals but to be honest, there aren't many stores there that can't be found next-door (from The Palazzo) at The Wynn, in The Shoppes at The Palazzo (hello Barney's!) or even shopping at Neiman's. I know it's weird when you have never been to Las Vegas before and you see the map and think the hotels are right next door to each other. Well they are, and they aren't. They are massive, massive complexes and like harlem_cutie wrote, walking from hotel to hotel outside in the summer months is brutal. I have been on Labour Day weekend before and it will be hot hot hot. I haven't stayed at The Aria (but it is a beautiful hotel) but I have stayed at The Palazzo, and I think it's a great location. I hope you have a really awesome time.

I checked dates and I will be there for the Labour Day weekend (leaving the day after that). I didn't plan that, but glad that worked out. Looking forward to the craziness of Vegas.

Thanks again.
My vote is for the Palazzo as well. I have never stayed there (we stay across the street at TI) but it is in a great location with tons of shopping between the Palazzo and Venetian and Fashion Show Mall across the street. The Forum Shops are just a quick walk away as well at Caesar's.

Aria - Contemporary, spacious rooms. Close to great shopping - City Center. Right across the street from the Cosmo, which is the one of the hottest spot for nightlife and pool parties.

MGM - Slightly more dated than Aria, but still a solid 4-star hotel. Great restaurants. They have the best (IMHO) Cirque show - KA in Vegas. Pretty close to City Center for shopping. Room rates will be lower than Aria.

Plazzo - Younger crowd, great restaurants (plus the ones at the Venetian, which is just one building over; great nightlife and pool party venues (LAVO, Tao Beach, Tao, Surrender). Close to Wynn for more world-class shopping, dining and nightlife. Very close to the Fashion Show Mall.

Personally I recommend the Plazzo as it has everything you're looking for - dining, shopping and nightlife. They're an all-suite resort so rooms are very spacious. Plus since they are the "sister" property of Venetian you have a whole other hotel to explore right there. Given you're not going for another 3-4 months I would go on their website and sign up to receive emails about promos, usually that gets you a nice 10-20% if the days you want are applicable. You mentioned September, if you don't mind the crowd and higher prices, the Labor Day weekend is incredibly fun in Vegas, lots of big name DJs.

I don't recommend TheHotel due to location, even tho I have not stayed there, but it's Vegas, especially for your first trip, you should be in the center of all the action.

Have fun!
Should be a sticky!

Be very careful jaywalking here. Most places the drivers will be courteous to walkers. Not her.! And they get away with killing people cause our law states its the walkers fault! Guess we have no common courtesy anymore. Yes when people jay walk on the strip it creates a nightmare for drivers but we don't need to be running them down.
A 50 year old couple from OK was killed recently cause they jaywalked. And the guy that hit them never was charged. This has happened so much this year we now have a billboard campaign about it.
Have fun but be careful.

If you are going for Labor Days weekend, book as early as possible because around August the price will rise. Just remember, if you are going to pool parties, leave your phone in the room. I made the mistake of taking my iPhone last LDW and got the "overheating due to high temperature" warning on the screen

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind with the IPhone!
We will be in Vegas for LD, too. Lucky we already booked.

Do one knows when they will release the party line ups for that week???

Check the websites. I'm seeing entire summer seasons of entertainment posted for some venues.

We also have bi weekly entertainment magazines here. When I pick up the latest copies, will post their websites. The clubs spend a fortune to advertise in these. If they can't help now at least you'll have a source to check.

Labor day weekend is one of the top 5 busiest weekends in Vegas!

OMG that's horrible! I can't believe the state says it's the walkers fault.

Technically jay walking is illegal. Most of these people are outside the lanes
designated for walkers to cross the street. Or they are crossing against the light.

This happens many places, but usually there is courtesy on the part of the driver in other locations. Not here. And the people get that courtesy in other locations which is why they think they will receive it here. Just a heads up.

My aunt got hit by a cab walking on the sidewalk about 60 years ago. She was never the same:(

I love Vegas. Been going there yearly since I was 18. you have to watch a show, cirque de soleil is never bad choice. the shopping is good, but there really isn't anything 'new'. I mean I can go to the same stores at home as i can there. do all the fun crazy things! I once zipped lined through their downtown area. don't know if they still have it though.

the pool clubs/parties are epic. AND they have the best spas! the clubs are always fun. you don't really need to eat, after all your body does survive longer on liquids than solid food. ;p. I always get one of those yard long drink, the ones that have that handy necktie thing ---> FAT TUESDAY.

TIP: nights out? the Sephora on the strip is SO nice. usually they require you to buy 50$ worth of makeup before they would do your make up (at least that is the 'rule' at home) but I stumbled in a hot mess and glided out a princess. granted I did have to buy something, I bought a stick of concealer (12$). Ask for Myriah, she is an miracle worker.

Yes it is & they've made it even longer! There's a zip line in the desert on the east side too.

Don't go to Ka at MGM - we fell asleep. After we got back, everyone told us we made the worst choice :(
