Can anyone recommend some hotels downtown? We won't have a car, and will be walking/cabbing everywhere we go. I'd like to visit Nordstrom, NR, the Space Needle, other touristy stuff... something in the vicinity of one of these would be great!

My DH and I are going out to Seattle, Washington in July.

I have never been there so I need some help! I need places to stay, either hotels or bed and breakfast's. Nothing thats overly expensive, but something thats nice!

Also if anyone can recommend things to do and see there. Any good places to eat?

Thanks so much in advance!

Inn at the Market, the W, and Ace Hotel are my favorite in Seattle! To eat, there are a ton of great seafood places (obviously), any of Tom Douglas' places (serious pie, Dehlia's Lounge, Ettas, and my personal favorite-Lola), Crush is also always amazing! If you stay downtown, or at the Market place you can walk to most everything. But there are also islands, and neighborhoods that would need a car to get to.

The Marriot Waterfront is gorgeous and you have an amazing view of The Sound... The hotel is 3 min walking distance from "The Public Market". the shopping and food in the area is amazing...

Hotel Max is spectacular too. Small rooms, but heavenly beds, art everywhere.

Also second the rec for Inn at the Market. :)

Make sure you visit the Pike Place market - so fun. Great chowder at Lowells, you can feed the seagulls fries while you eat. :)

the Experience Music Project at Seattle Center is fun. Taking the monorail there from downtown at Westlake Center is the best way to do it.

If you like Art Museums, they have some great exhibits on Warhol and Kurt Cobain right now at the Seattle Art Museum. They have a great Asian Art Museum too, within walking distance of Bruce and Brandon Lee's graves.

Nordstrom flagship downtown!!!

Last time I went, I stayed at the Westin. I have heard the Ace Hotel being great too.

I just wanted to say.. that I absolutely LOVED Lola's. And I think that is the SOLE reason that I would go back. I might be exaggerating as the people I went with only "liked" it a whole lot. sigh... <3

but yes, food at the market was delicious as well. hahaha

I'm super-artsy, so I love the Freemont District :)

I think a visit to the Original Starbucks (across from Pike Place) and Top Pot donuts are must-dos. If you've got the time and enjoy music, the EMP is highly festive!!

Oh my gosh, DH and I had our previous Summer vacation in Seattle and we stayed at The Edgewater Hotel and loved it. It's a boutique hotel on a dock, sitting directly over the water, and the windows open up completely (which is hard to find in ANY hotel) and you can fall asleep to the sound of the water lapping at the pier if you have a waterview/front room. It's an absolutely breathtaking hotel and the rooms have a cabin-like (yet classy) decor that makes you feel very warm and cozy. I believe each room comes with a fireplace and you can choose the waterview, waterfront or city view.

It's within walking distance of the Pike Place Public Market, the Aquarium, TONS of restaurants and everything else in between. Right near the hotel is also a depot for those massive boat tours which is really neat.

I bet you can find great deals on Travelocity or other travel sites too. Regardless, you're going to have a great time because Seattle is GORGEOUS!

Mayflower Hotel

downtown Seattle. BEST bar and host of annual Seattle Martini Classic Challenge.

Downtown location. OLD hotel. Walls are brick so use cell outside. Very old brick has minerals in clay.

Have fun!
