I just thought of a few more things....
Be sure to check out the Pirate show out front of TI. Also, go inside the hotel to the bar at Kahunaville to see the flair bartenders. They put on 3 very fun shows each night - no charge. Get your camera ready and stay to the end because there's FREE booze. Even my 68yr old Dad bellied up to the bar and leaned back to have a bartender who was standing on the bar, pour a drink down his throat! Great fun! Don't miss the volcano erupting at the Mirage and the fountains at the Bellagio. The gardens inside the Bellagio and Wynn hotels are a must-see. http://www.bellagio.com/amenities/botanical-garden.aspx The best clubs are located at Encore, Wynn, Venetian. Bring your tiniest clothes and be prepared to wait in line. The Flamingo has a good buffet, reasonably priced. Just off the strip, The Palms has a good one too (also home to the Playboy club). Just about across from NY, NY is the M&M store. Four floors of nothing but candy! Yum! If you want to reward DF for his patience while you shopped all day, take him to the Pleasure Pit at Planet Hollywood hotel in the evening. He'll enjoy the sights while he plays blackjack. Again, I can't emphasize renting a car enough. A cab ride from NY,NY to the Wynn, for instance will cost you 10 bucks each way. To the outlet mall, $25 round trip (or take the shuttle from your hotel). Tips are on top of that. So you can see that a car rental can pay for itself pretty quickly. Your feet will thank you too. You'll get to see so much more if you've got wheels. You can pull right up to the front door of any hotel, have the valet open your door for you and go right inside. You'll feel like a movie star too! lol! Then when you come out, they will bring your car right to you again. If it's cool out, they will have heaters or an enclosed area to keep you warm and toasty while you wait. Most people tip $2-5. There's a bus(the Deuce) that travels up and down Las Vegas Blvd but it moves rather slowly as the street is very congested most times of the day. It can be very crowded too at certain times of the day. It's a cheap and convenient way to travel though. I don't think that it will quite be open yet but the new City Center is just about complete. http://www.crystalsatcitycenter.com/ Here's a few websites for you to check out - http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=58 http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=61 http://www.thefashionshow.com/ http://www.1800bepetty.com/experienc...etails_LV.aspx http://www.cheapovegas.com/index.php http://www.vegastours.com/hooverdam.htm http://images.google.ca/images?hl=en...ed=0CDAQsAQwBA |

Do you still need shopping advice? I've officially been a local for a few months now, so I can recommend off-Strip shopping, restaurants, etc. (:
Definitely bring a sweater next month, but it probably won't get that cold. The high hit 90 last weekend and has been in the 70s/80s since then. Plus, you'll probably spend most of your time inside anyways. If it doesn't get warm enough for swimming, you can always go hot tubbing! |

Last year when we went in November I wore capris with short sleeve shirts and lightweight jackets the whole time. There were some people at the pool but it was a little bit chilly personally for me to be swimming. I'd say it was probably in the high 60's while we were there most days.
If you do rent a car WATCH OUT FOR PEDESTRIANS!!! I can't even tell you how many people we saw crossing against the lights and then they looked shocked when taxi drivers honked at them or almost ran over them. |

Oops! I completely forgot to check on the further replies. Sorry.
Cyndee, thanks very much for all the information you provided. I am going to check out those links right now. I love M&M's so I have to check that store out as well as the Coca Cola store. I am absolutely amazed at all the hotels that I have looked up. I bet it's going to be way more spectacular live. I actually don't know where to start. strema, I still need a lot of shopping advice on and off the strip. One store I will have to go to is Anthropologie. I love that store. I will probably go into the Marc Jacob Boutique because I love their handbags. Plus Cheesecake Factory. Which other stores would you recommend? Also, which boutique stores would you recommend in finding jewelry? It doesn't need to cost and arm and a leg. I am a collector of jewelry and love to have lots of pieces especially earrings, necklaces and bracelets. Any nice (whether expensive or not) stores for buying business attire? Which malls should I go in for sure? Thanks in advance for your help. buzzytoes, thanks you for the information. It's apparent we're probably going to need to rent a car judging by the comments. We will probably do that on select days during our stay. Dumb question... how many city blocks is one hotel? Or how many hotels fit on one large city block? Do you think it's advisable to take a look at all hotels or just the more noticeable one on our first trip? Which hotels would you recommend to see on our first vacation to Vegas? Thanks for all your help! |

Oh dear, you'll never get around to *all* the hotels! There are hundreds. Just stick to the ones on the strip. Bellagio, Encore, Wynn, Venetian, Caesar's, T.I., Planet Hollywood, Paris, Luxor to name just a few.
These properties are huge. Each takes up a least the length of a full city block. Perhaps more. Each property is expansive inside too. You could conceivably spend several hours inside each. Just stick to the Fashion show mall, Caesar's, The Miracle Mile at P.H. and the 2 outlet malls. You'll find everything you want there. Back to car rentals.....renting for a day here and there will actually be a pain in the rear. Vegas has the BEST car rental accomodations that I have ever seen. Once you get off the plane, you go outside to the shuttle area and they have buses that whisk you the quick ride to the car rental centre, a short distance away. Located there are all the car rental companies. It's a brand new facility and it's very organized and efficient too. You're in and out in no time. At the end of your trip, you bring the car back to the same place and they drop you off at the terminal. Again, quick, efficient and no hassle. To get a car once you are at your hotel, is much more difficult and much more expensive. When we were there last year, the first week of Dec., , it rained and SNOWED! |

I'm also going on the same week! That is great info you all... Now I get more ideas of what to do. I booked the Venetian at first and saw a promo for MGM so I switched, but now I am kind of regretting. Seems like it is all the way down the end of the strip isn't it?! Oh well...
I am planning to see the KA show, does anyone know what seat I should get? I am looking at the floor plan, I have no idea!! Is the middle always better? Upper or lower section?? Thanks you all in advance. Sorry MbyMJ I start asking my own questions in your thread

toadette when we saw Ka we were in the very front on the very far right side if you are facing the stage. Looks like it was Section 101 and we were probably in row C or so. I don't think we missed anything at all by being far over on one side. Obviously the very best seats are in the middle but given the choice I would pick up close over in the middle if you only had one option. Hope that makes sense. Enjoy it - it's a great show! The Ka-Peach (capiche, I totally didn't get it until they said it out loud) is yummy!!!

What are good mid-range hotels in LV? I booked Wynn for $109 (plus tax)but am wondering if I should book Mandalay Bay or Paris that are about $75. Or maybe even Monte Carlo, NY NY, Treasury Island, which are about $50.

^^ Honestly, you'll love the Wynn... i think that's a very good rate for that hotel, especially since it is a 5-star. I stayed there on my first trip to Vegas and I loved everything about it.
