The Bahamas are small and I've been there several times because it's always a cruise stop. The Atlantis is beautiful although I've never stayed there, just visited.
I would spend a lot of time on the beach, and, you may think this is odd, but DH and I always go over to this little bar called Senor Frogs. This place has good nachos and margaritas. They play music and have this guy that sort of leads everyone singing and dancing, they drink some - probababy rum based - drink from a long cylinder glass and do a conga line. We don't do any of it. We sit along the side by the water and watch everyone be ridiculous. It makes us laugh, we eat our nachos, drink our margaritas and people watch. I always think of of stories I would write if I were a writer. It's a very kick-back place. There are little shops along this road where you can buy coconut rum and walk along the beach. Oh, and if you go sit on chairs sitting out on the beach, expect a local to come and try to sell you a "rental" to sit on that chair for $5.00. That's why they set them out there. Hahah! Is the aquarium still there? That's fun too! |

Thanks again for your input, guys! I'll definitely check out those nachos, Gatsby! Me and my dh love to people watch and just relax. I don't drink alcohol but my dh does so I think I'll be stuffing my face with nachos:P Haha!

This is going to sound like a silly question... but when you go on the water rides, where do you leave your shoes/personal belongings? Is there a cubby? Or do you leave it by a beach chair?

Thanx Jill! I'm just worried that all the chairs will be occupied and it'll take forever to find one.

for an amazing night-time walk, go through the aquarium area (i think it's called The Dig) -- the fish and especially the manta rays will literally take your breath away. Also don't forget the open air aquarium and gardens -- it was so beautiful when I went last October

Not hotel advice, even though I've stayed on Paradise Island, but make sure to check out the local tours. There are some really nice sailing tours, that will take you out to snorkel and to a private beach w/ lunch. Some may disagree, but I kind of like the market on Nassau too- you just take a boat across. It is crowded, loud and what not, but kind of fun.

Hey, I'm going to the Atlantis for my honeymoon in November. How do I make reservations at the restaurants? Do I do it when we check in or should I call months in advance?? Thanks for the advice, and sorry to bump such an old thread up!

![]() Well, if it's dead in November then I guess I won't worry about it too much! Besides, I'll just tell the maitre'D that it's our honeymoon, maybe they'll squeeze us in that way ![]() Thanks for your help! |
