^^ I am posting this from the Library Hotel right now! It is my third stay here and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else. It is cosy, chic, well located, has amazing staff and is pretty darn perfect. I am off out to dinner now, but rest assured, you will love, love, love the Library.

It is also illegal to rent property per night. So the vast majority of legitimate apartments are being illegally sold, it is also illegal for someone to rent an apartment at a per night cost in NY.

If you search the NYC trip advisor forum on this you will find many, many topics.
Wow, I just looked this up. I had no idea scammers existed in apartment rentals. I have been renting apartments in NYC since my very first trip to NYC in 2001 shortly after 9/11. Well, actually I have only rented apartments in NYC 3 times because after the second time I went my sister moved there and for 5 years I had her apartment to stay in whenever I visited. But my last trip in August I rented an apartment with no problems. It was lovely! I guess I will be super vigilant and careful from now on about NYC apartment rentals.

I feel bad because I suggested it in the last thread and posted a link to About.com. As far as I know that link was legit. I used two of the listed companies to rent apartments from without any issues.

I really liked The Excelsior but found it a bit out of the way. It was the first time I stayed in NYC and have previously since always stayed in Times Sq, Broadway, Midtown area and have prefered the location much more.

You could try the Marriot Marquis of Le Parker Meredien.

The Library was booked for the dates I needed, and unfortunately it was a little expensive too.

I think I will have a look at The Excelsior and Marriot Marquis

I stayed at the Ameritania once and it was decent. I don't remember the price being overly expensive either.

Not yet, I keep on looking on and off.
I am staying in this evening so I am devoting time to seraching for a place!
I think the flights keep on bumping up the price, but I really don't want to fly economy.

I am moving up there on the first.
To be quite honest, I am looking through Craigs list for an apartment and it seems to be going well!
I didn't know it wasn't legal to rent out rooms of your own apt for the night, I can't see why not. but hey.
When i get up there, i will make sure to post up here what i find.

I am all sorted and booked! In record time aswell, it makes a change to be booked 2/3 months before, as opposed to my 2/3 days before like last time!!

I am leaving on the 6th and staying at Hotel Gansevoort for that 1 night. Then I am moving on to The Chelsea Star for the remaining 5 nights.

I have succumbed and decided to fly Virgin Atlantic Economy to save money.

Soooo excited.

I just want to thank you all for your help, it's always appreciated.
