^ Thanks. Ends up that I will have part of a day this Monday and from morning to about 4 p.m. on Wed., due to flight times (could not get out late enough on Tuesday). I looked at the Riverwalk map and it seems that all the downtown stuff and markets are walking distance... but I guess I'll see. My client wants a working dinner Monday and we are going to a Mexican place on Riverwalk, so I'll scope it out then or midday Monday. I plan on trying to do some sight seeing Wed. before I leave downtown.

Okay, I'm here now and leave tomorrow afternoon. The food at Acenar on the Riverwalk was really good and nice atmosphere. Also, I did BBQ at County Line BBQ- came recommended over Rudy's from a few locals I met while here on my trip. It was close to my hotel, which was a plus, and it was excellent. Driving is quite easy too- the roads make sense- granted, I brought my GPS, but I think the layout is nice. I've enjoyed my time and am doing the Missions in the A.M. before I leave. The Alamo and dowtown shops were nice as well, but the Alamo was smaller in scale that I imagined.

If you can, I would still recommend trying the BBQ at Rudy's. I am very familiar with your hotel and have even stayed there a couple of times. County Lind is good, but in my opinion doesn't compare with Rudy's.

^ I really wanted to go to Rudy's, but I just didn't have time while I was there. I'd like to go back to that area, it was very nice!

To the OP, the missions are something you should try to see. I really enjoyed them, even though the churches at all of them were not open to the public.
