Omg I am so pathetic about to-do lists but especially packing lists! I have a word document saved on my computer that I have created that lists all of the things I need to pack on a trip. Here is the thing: There is always a section for an addendum so when I go someplace tropical I write: Snorkel set, bathing suit, underwater camera, etc and if we go out West (to Montana) it's: boots, bug spray, first aid kit, etc same thing goes for work trips
I just find it easier to have a basic list to start out with rather than recreating the list each time I travel.
I also keep a box of "travel items" where I have mini shampoos, razors and that type of thing. I keep a ziplock packed with items to grab immediately also and just toss in a suitcase in case I don't have time to think about it.

I love packing lists! I usually make two: one for EVERYTHING and one for the last-minute things that I usually use the morning before I leave (i.e. toothbrush, phone charger, eye cream).

I always make a clothes list - outfits for each day. That way I know exactly what to bring. I think it's fun :)

LOVE lists, made one last month and bought everything on it. Just need to pack and I'm off tomorrow to the warm sunny Caribbean.

I'm so glad to hear others love the planning, so many people get stressed, but I find it very relaxing especially planning outfits and accessories with a limited amount of pieces.

Yes, I have a list for backpacking and one for when we go on vacation. I always help my boyfriend pack because inevitably he forgets something.

My friends husband came across my packing list while I was away this weekend. I am not sure if he was impressed or scared!!! I do know that I did not leave even one thing behind!!

i'm right in the middle of making an excel spreadsheet now, i don't always bother (especially if it's a routine long weekend and i'm going to stay at my parents' place where i have most of the basics anyway) but since i'm going to new york first and paris straight after i'm going to have to be somewhat organised this time! and since i also plan to carry on i have to plan all the decanting stuff too.

Normally I don't, as I travel quite frequently, sometimes at short notice and I'm used to packing the basics. But, we'll be going away for 5 weeks at the end of this year, and I most certainly will have a list. I NEED to travel in comfort, as the plane ride will be nearly 24 hours in total Then for our stay, due to the different climate and the activities we'll be doing, there's a ton of stuff to bring, plus all our documentation. It's always the case that something will be forgotten, even though I'll be organised several weeks ahead with what to bring, it will be at the eleventh hour that I actually pack!!!! My DH can't stand it, as I usually pack, then unpack, then pack again!!! I think there's a bit of OCD going on there!!

Oh thank goodness other people do this!!!

I love a packing list, mostly for when traveling for pleasure. Work travel I've pretty much got my wardrobe and travel necessities down pat, so I don't do a list for that.

When I'm traveling for leisure though, I love a list. My list is organised by outfits per day first (it's not strict, no OCD, but it's a good rough guide) and then I write a full packing list and whittle it down until I have everything I need and nothing I don't need.

I find it best to sort my trip into traveling days, touring days, nights out, special day events and then plan outfits from there. Before I started doing this, I used to just pack what seemed like a good amount of clothing, without thinking my trip through and getting what I actually needed. No, you don't need that much underwear. Yes, you do need another pair of jeans. My packing goes much better now

guilty as charged! I make a list of all the items I would need to bring with me on the trip and then determine the clothing that I would wear each day and with which accessories!
