Default My Vegas review; The Venetian and Spamalot, oh and southwest

Well the Venetian was nice (I posted pics earlier), but I would not stay there again. Although the room was very large, and had a step down living room...it was still just 1 room, not a true suite. Their pools were not very good and didn't have any umbrellas or shade. The walls were pretty thin and I can't tell you how many times I was woken up by slamming doors.

For me the best hotel is still "The Hotel" at Mandalay bay. It is, depending on the current specials being run, about the same price. Their suites, are actual suites with a seperate living room and bedroom and have 2 bathrooms. Their pools are way better. Some people don't care for the Mandalay since it is way at the end of the strip, but to me it so hot, really it is just easier to take a cab anyway.

Spamalot: I didn't think it was that good. I thought it was just me, since I am not a huge Monty Python fan, but DH was dissappointed too and he loves Monty Python.

We flew Southwest, which we almost never do...I just don't like the whole cattle car feel...plus we usually fly US Airways to Vegas since the have direct with first class....but the flight times with SW worked perfectly....so we gave them another shot. I was pleasently surprised! The whole new number system is fabulous! Plus both crews were great! Good job SW!

Good to know... I always wanted to try the Venetian but I can't even stand the casino there because of that perfumey smell. I stopped in once to place a
sports bet but I had to leave immediately - hope the rooms didn't have the smell pumped into them!

I like SWs new numbering system too. It makes things a lot easier & less stressful.

It's funny that you've posted this because I am going to Vegas for my bachelorette party in about two weeks! And, we're staying at the Venetian and flying SW!

I'm hoping that my Venetian stay is okay...we got a really great deal on the suite for 4 days and three nights.

I flew SW the last time I went to Vegas and I had a wonderful experience (except I hate the cattle car experience, too!). I am flying out there again in August and we booked with SW again

I like the new Southwest boarding system too. I used to hate flying them for that very reason. And we stayed at the Venetian, and we loved it. The rooms were not perfume -y at all. I know what you mean about the casino smelling that way. One of our flight attendants introduced the male flight attendants as her husband and boyfriend, and passed time by dropping cocktail napkins on the heads of sleeping passengers. It was good, light hearted fun.

Interesting review. Thanks for taking the time to write. Maybe I'll give SW some thought now.

When I went to Vegas recently I flew SW. The worst part to me was the flights were all so crowded that I was really uncomfortable. I stayed at the Flamingo. I'd rather sleep in a cardboard box in the street than stay at the Flamingo ever again.
