Talking Italian tpfer's; pease help!

I'm going to be in Florence for three months, starting this September...and I need a place to stay! I think my best option is to rent an apartment, so I have a few websites I've been looking at, but so far nothing's really panned out. Do you Italians know of any websites I can look at, or an agency I can email about renting an apartment? Or better yet, anyone you know personally who has a place to rent?

I'm fine with just renting a room, or sharing one (I'm 22, female). And the main requirement is that it be cheap! Outside of the Florence is ok, as long as I can walk into the city.

If I can't find anything now, I've decided I'm just going to stay in a hotel for the first couple of days and hope I can find something once I'm there.

Thanks guys!

edit: yeah...that was supposed to say "please help" in the title...

I found this for now, http://www.abba-firenze.it/
let me ask to some friends tomorrow!!
By the way: wow, what a prices!!!! Consider that, at a first glance, a room rent costs about 350 €/month far from the center, and 650 in the city center. Here is a link for apartments renting (not so cheap, but may be this is usual cost nowadays)http://www.appartamentiafirenze.com/eng/index.html

Oh wow, thank you so much!

I think that first website was mainly for short term rentals, but that's great because I may be needing that as well.

As for the second site....650 a week is a bit much for me! I was looking for something less than 350 a month. I think at that price, I'd definitely just have to go with a room instead of a whole apartment.

The websites I've been looking at have mainly been geared toward students, which I assumed would be the cheapest route. I've been able to find shared rooms for closer to 250, which is perfect, but for one reason or another they just haven't worked out (length/time of stay, etc). I'm hoping as it gets closer to sept more things will open up.

Thanks again for your help, I'm eager to hear what your friends have to say!

I've spent quite a bit of time in Florence and don't think you will find anything for less than 350 a month other than, as you indicated, a shared room. I was looking into short-term rentals last year and most of the decent places were 600 a week and up. You definitely need to look outside the city center for something in your price range.

^^I've actually had a few leads with some of the student sites I've found (we're a very cheap bunch), so I don't think it's completely unrealistic.

Do you have any cities you would suggest that offer easy access to Florence? I would definitely be open to looking other places if I knew what was close by
Thanks!

Hi Laurie, sorry for my delay in answering, I thoroughly checked and unfortunately I did not find any convenient place for you (my friends' accomodations have been already rented). I strongly suggest you to visit/stay in Lucca, is a beautiful city not so turistic as Pisa or Florence, but I am sure you can find very nice accomodation much cheaper than Florence. Pisa is not interesting (apart from Piazza dei Miracoli, that is really worth to see) and it's expensive as Florence (the University in Pisa is one of the most important). Consider that Lucca is, I believe, just half an hour by train from Florence, or by bus, and it's very well served anytime during the day. And I obviously suggest the coast, where I live, the area is called Versilia - just for a day trip - the accomodation during the summer season is soo expensive!!! I may suggest some other web site where you can find room renting or house sharing, but, can you read italian? Let me know, I will be happy to assist you!!
