I would hit Soho and walk around.. and Canal Street in Chinatown.

Soho will have unique and interesting items.. and Canal Street.. all kinds of cheap stuff and bargains.

I would also do the 5th Avenue Run. Its something you have to see in person.

Its like Rodeo Drive x 10.

Go to Woodbury Common if you have a chance. I got the early bus and was back in the city by 3pm which was good as I didn't feel I'd wasted the whole day.

Take the N or R to Prince Street in Soho and just walk around...low end boutiques to LV, Chanel, Marc Jacobs, etc. Theres everything. The train will leave you right on Prince and Broadway. Then you can also take those same trains up to 34th street Herald Square...but i like soho better.

I would say SoHo too, fifth ave is great if you have plenty to spend, but for the more affordable shops, Old Navy, American Apparel, Bloomingdales, hit SoHo.

There's a lovely little café on the avenue all these stores are on, right on the corner of Bleecker street. Go there, because it is lovely. I really can't remember what it's called. But it's on the side of the street where Old Navy and American Eagle are.

They have the most amazing tomato & basil soup and walnut fudge brownie.

I like to shop along West Broadway, Prince, and Spring Streets. You can do China town and soho in a day if you take a cab or train. While you're in China town you can visit ferrara's bakery in little italy for italian pastries.
I will also suggest taking the train to 72nd street and shopping along Columbus ave which is about one block up from the train. I like Olive and Bette's there. The other boutiques I like are Big Drop, Intermix, and Scoop and I love Calypso. They're kind of pricey but do have unique dresses/clothes.
I would also look to see if there are any sample sales going on while you're here. You never know, and that's a sure way to get a good deal!

Like everyone else, there's a bit vote for Soho here, but also, for sheer theatre, and 'all under one roof' delight, I'd spare a couple of hours for Barneys.
