My favorite is the grand californian, it is much closer and is therefore more convenient for getting food in the evening in downtown disney, and also for going into the park. Depending on how big your girls are, its a nice convenience.

If it's full or too much $$ i also have been at the Disneyland hotel, and it is still fun to stay there. Our room was facing the park so that we could see the nightly fireworks from it, which was fun.

I don't know anything about Paradise Pier.

Check out mouseplanet.com It is a great resource!

Personally, wealways prefer suite type hotels when traveling with the kids. So nice for them to have their own rooms and the living room and kitchen always help.

We have stayed at several that were good. Marriot Residence Inn and Best Western Suites are 2 that come to mind. Are you a member of AAA, if so get a CA tour book...you'll find tons of options.

Just a warning, going in July can be brutal...be prepared for big crowds and long lines for everything. We go to Disneyland a lot, but just doing do the summer any more. If your plans are flexible at all, you might think about waiting until September, you'll have a much better time.

The Grand Californian is really nice. Off property I would recommend the Hilton, Sheraton (both the main gate and on Ball Rd.) or the Marriott. There are lots of botique hotels in the area as well. Check out www.tripadvisor.com for reviews.
