Has anyone stayed at the Blue Bay Grand Esmeralda in Mexico?
We're going in a few weeks (just booked a ridiculous semi-last minute deal).. Comments are appreciated. I have already read the trip advisor reviews, but I was just wondering what the tPF gals think :) Thanks! Here's the resorts site: http://www.bluebayresorts.com/en/hot...esmeralda.html

I have been to the Blue Bay Getaway resort in Cancun. The only weird thing about it it was the fact that it was 'adults only' and there were lots of topless women and strip casino etc..you can imagine. Other that that the rooms were good and the food was good! The one you booked looks better! I am sure it will be excellent!

OMG we went to the Blue Bay Getaway too!!! The adults-only thing sold it for us, but it wasnt as good as i hoped it would be, it was fun, but a bit too raunchy at times. We had to change a room because the first one they gave us was very stinky and moldy but the other one was fine and the food was ok. Its not 5 star but good enough. The one you booked looks good though!! Have fun!!

Ok we just got back ! (time flies..)
Anyway I'll give you a mini -review Staff -- five stars. Everyone pleasant, nice and seemed to really care about doing their job Pool -- five stars. Comfy chairs, plentiful towels, chairs. Huge pool. Activites daily. Shaded areas as well. Drink service a bit slow though Drinks -- three stars. Seemed watered down or just plain weak. However it's all inclusive, right? We just ordered more. We sometimes ordered shots to add to our drinks as well :) Food -- Some good, some bad. But it's a resort that has to make huge amounts of food (quantity and variety) so not everything can be perfect. We always found something to eat. Room -- fabulous. Air conditioning was top notch. Room cleaned daily, huge bathroom (with fan lol -- it's important in mexico!), mini bar stocked daily (free), and safe (free). Grounds were large -- some bugs (mosquito types) -- we wish we had bug spray.. all in all we had a great trip!!

I stayed at the Esmeralda last year. Great staff, pool, and the a la carte restaurants are great. THe only downside is the ocean water which is silty - but this is something that they can't fix. It's some ecological reaction from previous hurricanes I think.
