Yves Saint Laurent Metallic Downtown Tote

The past two days have been devoted to handbags that cost the price of a BMW, a nicer BMW, and a small house, but with a pinch on my arm and its all back to reality. This reality is, of course, still in the world of designer bags, but doesn't that low 4 digit price tag look amazingly refreshing today? For an everyday tote which rides on the metallic wave trend, the Yves Saint Laurent Metallic Downtown Tote is a favorite. The Downtown Collection has been a hit thus far for YSL and the new colors of the hits keep rolling in. Metallic silver leather along with silver-tone hardware pair together in this funky tote. Front buckle strap detailing and front pockets give an added touch to an otherwise simple bag. I love the shape of this bag, which is perfect for everyday wear but will still provide you with some edge. Through Neiman Marcus for $1595.

this bag! I admit it, when I first saw the Downtown several months ago, I was one of the tPFers who said it looked like a maxipad with wings. But since then, my eyes have gotten more used to the shape. Must be all the Downtown appearances in Vogue, Bazaar, Elle, etc.!!!! What can I say, I am so gullible to marketing.

I like the color but not a fan of the shape. The wide angles of the bag doesn't seem very flattering and seems like it would be be very bulky looking.

I really like this bag. It looks cute in this color but I prefer it in violet.

Not a big fan of Downtown, irrespective of its color. The shape of this bag is really strange IMO.

I must tell you all that I bought it, this very one, lvoed is hugged it and took it on a day trip to LA and the zippers at the top (they are on the top sides and do not meet in the middle) broke. Yes, they actually broke. the sipper pull broke off, leaving no way to grab the zipper pull. they are not hinged but welded so when you pull on the zipper to close and have somethign in the bag, the weight of the hanging bag makes the zipper pull bend. it should be a zipper pull on a ring, two pieces, not one. I returned it to Neiman's after carrying it and the store manager came over, took one look and said "major design flaw" and promptly gave me a refund. But what i really wanted was different zipper pulls and my bag back. I think it is a brilliant, lvoely, not too trendy bag that I could ahve carried for twnety years. I am so depressed!

If you buy it, do NOT, I mean it, do not attempt to zip the bag closed when your things are in it. jsut leave it open!

Is it bad that it just looks like any ordinary bag? XD I think the metallic makes it look cheap. Plus the shape does suck, i hate the fact is comes out on the sides...

But this is just my opinion :)

That's probably why Kylie Minogue is carrying it without it being zipped up too!
