Default Twelfth St. by Cynthia Vincent Studded Grocery Bag

Hey, Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent. Alexander Wang called. They want their shtick back.

To the left, Wang. To the right, Cynthia Vincent. I feel like they’ve already met.

Not to be a hater or anything, but as I was browsing the New Arrivals section of ShopBop today, I came across the Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Studded Grocery Bag and experienced a moment of cognitive dissonance when I realized that they had, in fact, not labeled it as being made by Wang, the Pied Piper of Downtown Cool. And then I realized it must not be an error – it must be a ripoff.

And based on the Alexander Wang bags that I’ve been seeing for the past several months, that’s exactly what it is. He doesn’t make one with the exact stud configuration that we see on the Cynthia Vincent bag, but the shape and aesthetic are so similar that I can’t help but be reminded. At the very least, though, they’ve priced the bag right for unoriginality – the Alexander Wang Hilary Tote retailed for $890. Buy through ShopBop for $230.

There are so many brands ripping each other off...though, then again, you can't be that original when creating a bag in this particular style kuz there's pretty much nothing to it but a sac.

They both look good to me, though the leather on the Wang bag looks, and probably is, better. I like the stud arrangement on the 12th St.

I would not have use for either grocery bag.
