Marc by Marc Jacobs Faridah Hobo Bag: Fab or Drab?

The petrol (blue-gray) color used for this leather hobo bag is stunning. It is a toned down blue, which makes it easy to wear often. But the two turnlock fastening pockets on the front of the Marc by Marc Jacobs Faridah Hobo Bag resemble the backside of someone wearing jeans, which is a negative attribute in a handbag. The hobo shape adds a slouchy feel and there is a zip fastening pocket at the top, one shoulder strap, brass hardware, and canvas lining. Can you look past the human like front pockets, or is it grabbing your attention in a bad way also? It is unfortunate, because I like front pockets. Just not sure they work out well on this bag. Buy through NAP for $438.

It's okay, I personally like the other turnlock bags in the line more than this one. This is definitely my least favorite.

I like it, especially the color. However, it's just too big for lil ole 5'2" me.

I think it's fab!!! My one complaint with this bag in the past was the color choices. This color is WONDERFUL!! It's about time MJ matured his color palette on the mbymj bags! In the past years, they either screamed ugly or died of boredom. This is a great color!

I have to agree. The color is great, but the rest of it just doesn't work for me.

Plus, it isn't just the pockets that look like someone's backside. Look at that wrinkle/crease down the middle. Though that's probably just the way it's posed for the picture.

It's too plain for me.

Kinda drab. It's a bag I would use, but bought for functionality more than anything. I find a lot of the Marc by Marc Jacobs bags a tab overpriced for the design/quality. You can get similar from lines like Coach, Banana Republic, Anna Corinna, Bulga, etc. for better quality with more detailing.

It's a drab design wise, but as always MBMJ offers simple design in smoochy leather at a fair price.

I'm not impressed with this bag. I have a pair of marc jacobs flats in this petrol blue and it's a fantastic color. I liked the marc bags with the buckles better than the turnlock, but I don't think it was from the mbmj line cause they were more like $900+

i don't like this particular turnlock faridah - i have one in ivory that doesn't have the flaps over the pockets and i think it's a much more chic design because the lines are simpler. it looks less like a butt that way. i think the color is beautiful, though, and the mbmj bags use WAY nicer leather than most other similarly priced bags (coach, i'm looking at you...)
