Marc Jacobs Collection Quilted Ryder: Yay or Nay?

For today's Yay or Nay we have a shiny grained patchwork leather bag from a designer that many people find to be hit or miss. The Marc Jacobs Collection Quilted Ryder boasts the patchwork pattern along with polished gold metal hardware. On the front of the bag, there are three front elasticized pouch pockets, two spanning half the width of the bag and one sharing with the two. There is an option of either using the removable chunky link chain shoulder strap or the double leather handles. Finally, this deisgner handbag is finished off with a frame top and push lock closure. Dimensions make this bag easy to carry everyday, 14"x 12.5"x 5". Also available in black, this shiny number is a new rendition from the Marc Jacobs line.

I saw this bag at Holts yesterday and the picture does no justice. It was absolutely gorgeous, the patent leather is so eye-catching yet still fairly pliant to the touch...if only it was about half its price =(

Nay. too much going there. cannot make up my mind if it is supposed to be a utilitarian pocketed tote or a classy quilted bag or an edgy rock chick arm candy.

I'm so tired of the chunky chain handles, too. This thing probably weighs ten pounds.

nay. i hate the elastic on the front pockets of the bag. plus, i think it's really awkward where the handles attaches to the bag. it's so low and in the pockets! i just don't get it...

Yay, Yay!! I think in would look best carried in the crook of the arm w/o the gold chain strap.

I bet its gorgeous in person, but I just cant do heavy bags anymore (got tired of heavy Chloe bags) and that chain will make it heavy.

I agree with this one. I somehow cannot make myself like these elastic pockets MJ bags have recently boasted.

I say yay! Only 'cause I saw the black verson in person without the chain. I think I initially hated it from the photos but it's so nice in person!

hmmn- it's decent overall but I'm not feeling the squichy handles or the smaller front right pocket.
