Metallic bags are the bags to carry this holiday season and the IT bag to be seen with is the new Louis Vuitton Miroir Line. Janet Jackson has been photographed carrying this new IT bag, even though the new Miroir line does not officially launch until December 1. The frenzy surrounding this launch is comparable to the 2003 launch of the Cherry Blossom line, with stores only receiving limited numbers of each bag and the wait lists being extremely long.



The full Miroir line includes bags representing Louis Vuitton's most iconic and recognizable shapes: Speedy, Papillon, Keepall, Alma, and Pochette. The line comes in two different colors: Silver and Gold. I must admit that I am not a huge fan of this new line, in fact the silver seems oddly reminiscent of aluminum foil and if you have trouble finding a mirror to touch up your makeup you can always use your bag! In addition, if you're one of those people who doesn't like to draw attention to yourself with your bag then this is definitely not for you. Another major problem that is holding me back from loving this line is that the Speedy comes with a price tag of $1330 USD and is made of PVC, therefore causing me to question the durability of such a pricey bag. That said, the frenzy surrounding the Miroir line is unlikely to die down anytime soon and if you are contemplating buying one you should call Louis Vuitton immediately to place yourself on the waiting list, so that you can be one of the first to be carrying this season's IT bag!

I adore this bag. (love the idea of using it to touch my lipstick, very clever Twiggers!!) I love that I will not have to worry about staining vachetta, or the color of the patina!! Plus I imagine it will be fairly easy to wipe anything off of the pvc as well! Im really excited to see how people like this bag when it finally launches. (great entry Twiggers! Thanks!)

Thanks Sunshine! That is a really good point about the vachetta...which I hadn't thought of...as well as the easy care! I too am really interested to see people's opinions once they actually have it in hand!

nice blog entry, Twiggers! very informative~ the bag is very unique, but not for me! I agree w/u that for PVC, seems too pricey...but it's LV after all!
is this line to be a permanent line for LV, or short-lived and thus, very very limited?

ethan: Getting a straight answer from LV is difficult...we have heard everything from it being a seasonal line and thus being available for awhile...to it only being a one-time shipment. I imagine that it is actually somewhere in the middle with it being a limited production of 5000 of each bag (similar to cerises, cherry blossom, etc.). But due to all these rumors and the crazy waiting lists...if I wanted one I would try to get it ASAP.
In addition, they are already selling on eBay for almost a 100% markup.

To me the Cerises weren't limited, especially since you could walk into LV and buy those items. The CB items were a little harder to get, but not limited. I would say both were seasonal. I could see comparing the Mirior bags to the CB items as being difficult to get at the moment.

But neither CB nor Cerises had actual number of ones that were produced like say the Tweedy or MC Eye Love series bags. Which were very limited and numbered. I don't think the Mirior bags will have numbers like those, which were limited and not seasonal. KWIM? All in all, I think the Mirior bags will be seasonal and limited in quantities. JMO

I called LV and they informed me that the waiting list was closed. Boooo so I'm gonna see how I go about getting one because I actually love them and just have to have it lol

For the Cerises line, the Speedy was the hardest to find. I'd gotten mine out of the case since it was the only one in the store. I saw it only one other time and that was it.
