![]() Despite what you may think, I am not here to praise this Fendi bag. Actually, it would make sense to send some positive feedback its way, because frankly, it is a gorgeous tote. The embossed horse design in the skin-colored leather is really pretty to look at, the shape looks great as well - this is truely a Fendi that could find many lovers among you bag-loving ladies. However, I need to voice my disappointment at the quality of Fendi's Selleria line products. While in the Big Apple last week, Megs, her brothers and mom picked out a Fendi Selleria wallet for Megs' sister, who was visiting Columbus this past weekend. A random gift from the heart. Shan didn't even manage to use it for two days until the dye of the stitching appeared to leak onto the leather, leaving noticable dark stains along the stitching itself and also rubbing off on the leather on folded side, opposite to the stitching. We have yet to investigate with Fendi if this is a production error of some sort. The wallet did not get splashed with water, nor was it exposed to any unusual conditions like humidity, heat, cold, whatever. I do not believe that a product for ~$600 should have its dye ooze and stain the leather. Most certainly not after two days of light use and carrying it around in a tote all day. I will post pictures later once Megs drops it off at my place. I'd love to hear opinions from you guys, maybe you've had a similar thing happen with Fendi products in the past. Regardless, I'd be hesitant to drop over $2,300 on a tote that may end up dissolving in the rain. ![]()

WTH???????? Totally agree Vlad, that is disappointing! Especially since the tote is gorgeous, for that price point, quality is not a compromise

Very nice but not at that price. How disappointing to hear of the poor quality of the Selleria line. I am really interested to see the pictures and to hear what Fendi has to say.

Although I always loved the Fendi baguette, I never considered them to be particularly well-made from a structural point of view. Design-wise, the only thing I've ever liked as much is the Balenciaga Classique (ironically, there are similaries to the two shapes). I guess sometimes there's a trade-off for us as consumers--design vs. quality, although in a perfect world, there shouldn't be. I agree--bleeding of dye shouldn't happen. I do have a Fendi bag from the devil bag line that does seem to be of better quality than the baguettes were, so maybe it does vary by line. I haven't had any Selleria products. It's disappointing to hear of your experience.

I bought the Fendi selleria shopper tote bag... kinda looks like a plastic grocery bag, and the care cards did mention that you have to be careful with the selleria line because heat/humidity/sun will ruin the coated canvas, saddle leather, etc and cause other side effects (runny colors?) I'll see if I can dig up the card and what it says, if anyone's interested.
I'm sorry to hear what happened to the wallet. But then it may be a different thing entirely, as my tote is coated canvas, and I believe the wallet is leather?? Sorry to hear about their poor quality control, their spys have been hit-and-miss in quality too. |

I agree, I looked at one of the selleria bags and didn't go there primarily because of the quality. It felt....cheap.
And for over 2k?! I don't think so. |

I must defend the selleria line! While it's entirely possilbe they've gone down in quality, I have 3 selleria bags from years 1999, 2000 and 2001 and they are amazing in quality, durability and style. They're among my first and fave bags. I also have 12 baguettes, and only the bugle beaded black one has become damaged. I hope Fendi does right by you, maybe it's just a lemon, and they'll replace it with something that meets the standards they've lived up to in the past. I hope so! Good luck! They sure don't come cheap! Tell them they owe you a free pair of shoes too!

I ran out of time yesterday... I am going to call today. The wallet is leather (pink) so I don't know what went wrong. Cheap craftmanship?! It is just extremely dissapointing after quite a bit of money...

I'm so sorry to hear of your terrible experience because I bought the large Selleria tote about a month ago and have had absolutely no problems at all with it. I actually purchased it with fear and trepidation because I was sure the very problems you describe were likely to happen and who needs that for any price, much less +$2300? As much as I love great bags I'm not necessarily the most careful person in the world but all is well so far and I've fallen deeply in love with it. Could there have been a production problem (not a good excuse - there is no excuse at this price - but at least some sort of explanation) that would have caused these issues? I certainly hope Fendi makes good. And I don't mean just exchanging the bag. At this point they should be willing to offer you a complete refund if that's what you want. I discovered long ago that as tempting as it is to buy at the source because there's usually a better selection, if at all possible it's better to buy at a department store that will stand behind its merchandise. I personally bought my bag at Fendi and wasn't very happy when I saw the salescheck stamped "exchange or store credit only". I originally bought metallic gold (was coming down with a migraine and must have been visually challenged), got home and realized it wasn't my kind of metallic (as in I wouldn't carry it with a bag over my head) and had to ask my husband to rush back to the store to exchange it because I was going out of town and there was also a time limit on exchanges. I really hope this is resolved completely to your satisfaction. Please let us all know.
