First, a little bit of background: the PurseBlog team is obsessed with bulldogs. We love dogs in general, of course, but we have a collective fascination with English Bulldogs that leads to us exchanging adorable pictures and videos of the scrunchy-faced little nuggets throughout the work day. (Our favorites will be embeded after the jump, because it’s Monday and we could all use a puppy video, right?) When I first met Megs and Vladi in person after knowing them via the Internet for years, I brought them two bulldog cartoon prints to accompany the big bulldog already on the wall in their apartment. My parents have a bulldog named Lucy, and I went to the University of Georgia, which has a famous white bulldog named Uga for its mascot.

Suffice it to say that we’re a little bit obsessed, which means that the Dolce & Gabbana Bulldog Tapestry and Python Shoulder Bag should be right up our alley, right? Unfortunately, it reminds me a little bit too much of the kinds of things you can buy at a dog show.

Yes, I’ve been to a dog show. A bulldog show, to be exact. I was visiting my parents, and my mom wanted to go visit their dog’s breeder, who was in town because of the show. I went with her, because when, exactly, do you get another chance to see dozens of bulldogs, all snorting and panting and farting in one room? Never, that’s when. It was amazing, if maybe a little bit too much like Best In Show for total comfort. There was also a bunch of ridiculous bulldog-themed merchandize on sale, and I’m pretty sure that there was at least one tapestry piece, mostly because I’m currently having flashbacks to it when I look at this bag.

I so very rarely pass on anything with a bulldog on it, but if you’re looking for a kitsch factor in your accessories, my advice is always to look to vintage stores or eBay instead of plunking down major coin on a weird designer piece. Kitsch is not something that needs to be expensive, and having something inexpensive and quirky is so much more fun than admitting to your friends that you spent $900 on a bag like this just because you think Dolce & Gabbana made a funny. I still respect the bulldog love, though. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $895.

And now, we present:

It seems silly to combine snakeskin with tapestry. Dogs and snakes don;t get along, neither does tapestry and skin. Looks kitchy.

Bans don't work :-).
I love bulldogs! I have a bulldog myself. Actually, he's a mix with a French Bulldog and a Boston Terrier. He is so cute! And you know what? He never complains about my shopping, isn't that the perfect male? And we love to drool together, lol! While I drool over handbags, he likes to drool over food .
I have a weakness for fashion accessories with bulldogs on it, especially black and white bulldogs. Gucci released a dog scarf with bulldogs on it a few seasons back and I had to have it in both colorways they had. They also had a very cute bulldog Guccioli charm that I had to have. And if that wasn't enough, Gucci also released a very cute silver bulldog necklace that has been gifted to me by two dear friends . Can you see my weakness when it comes to items with french bulldogs on it :-)?

Now, about the Dolce & Gabbana bulldog bag...I definitely think it is adorable and I love the bulldog on it. But as much as I like bulldogs, I wouldn't spend $ 895 for this bag. I prefer bulldog accessories over a bulldog bag anyway .

I don't like bulldogs, I love cats but even if a cat was on it I would not buy it, animals on bags is a big no for me. This bag looks like it comes from a dog memorabilia shop!
